I did this last year and can not remember when to fax my request over to the Fort. Is it when we can check in on line or earlier? We are going to be there Dec. 15-22.... Thanks!

About 5 days before check-in.

Thanks, but this is what I can not remember, was it 5 days before we check in on site or before I do the on line check in.... Thanks!!

I always fax my request exactly 5 days prior to the arrival date or 4 days prior if I forget. That way they know you're not gonna cancel since your already past the full refund date of having to cancel 5 days prior to the arrival date. :)

Faxed mine today for arrival Friday!

Would anyone by chance have or know where I can get the fax number to send my site request to?

Is there a format to use that works best when faxing the request?

Like confirmation then last name or other way around?

Do you ask for specific sites or just loops?

Thank you for bearing with me as I ask all the newbie questions. We are just starting the process of purchasing a travel trailer, but I still want this information to have on hand.

I put my name, confirmation number, and date of arrival & departure when I request our site last time and we got it. I know some who request just a loop and who do site, just depends.

For a first timer to Fort Wilderness, coming with Wife, Daughter (15), Son (7) and Daughter (5).... What site or loop would one request? What are the benefits of said site?

Requesting a site is a needle in a haystack. Requesting a loop is a maybe. First you have to know which category site you are paying for. Partial, full, preferred or premium. Then I'd just specify size of your rig/tent, what you'd like to be close to or away from so you get the right site.

The best way to request a loop is to fax a request about 5 days before your scheduled arrival. Here is a form most people use:

The fax# for the Fort is:407-824-3508

Date:

TO: Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground Site Assigner

FROM: Name
Address

SUBJECT: Site Request for Month xx - xx

RE: Reservation # xxxxxxxx

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop xxxx with a site that will accommodate the following: (list your "stuff" here) and near (whatever you want to be near).

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I’m really looking forward to my visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxx@xxx.xxx

Sincerely,

While I agree requesting a specific site by number could be "iffy" I think your "loop request being a maybe" is not accurate based on our past 20+ trips to FW over the last 26 years where we have ALWAYS got the loop be wanted, except for two times ... one when it was rented out to a group and the other during site renovations when our requested loop was simply not open to anyone when we were there.

BTW we have never "faxed" our request, but include it on our initial ressies and then actually call and have the CM check our ressie to see it that preference in actually on the ressie in the computer. Faxing doesn't ensure that your preference is on what shows up on the computer unless someone physically checks it ... so we call and make nice to the CM to make sure all is "KOSHER" so to speak with our ressie.

I guss we have been lucky. We ask for a loop and close to bath house site and for the past 20 years they hit the spot 99% of the time with nofaxing. Find that also when we use our DVC points at the resorts.

I should of also said we are staying in a Cabin. Are some better (locations) than others?
