Requesting a room at POFQ?

I know with some of the larger resorts, it would be beneficial to request something near a bus or near the food court, etc, but POFQ is small, so I'm not inclined to request anything. We've booked a standard room, because I don't think the view will make much difference without a true balcony.

For those of you who have stayed at POFQ, did you find a particular room request helpful?

I usually request top floor to cut down on noise from above. Also for POFQ I requested building 4 or 3 just because they are right next to the food court, main building area but anywhere is lovely at that resort!

I requested only a courtyard view and got it. I didn't want to face the parking lot so I decided I would only make the one request that should prevent that and take whatever floor/building they gave me.

I've requested building 4, top floor using Touring Plans' room request auto-fax for my trip starting in a few days. I booked a standard view. It's right next to the main building and the closest to the bus stop. It technically overlooks the parking lot, but there are a ton of gardens in front of it so you can barely see the lot.

We have been in all buildings at POFQ except 4 and on all floors. All are an easy walk to the foodcourt and buses. Since you booked Standard you most likely won't be in #2, 5 or 6 . If you want to go up to POR #4 or 7 are closer but we have walked up staying in #1 and 3 & it only added a few minutes. My one suggestion is to look at the resort map to find the shortcuts once you are there.Since we get in late morning I only request room ASAP in the category we paid for.

I've stayed at POFQ 4 times. I used to request something like "convenient to main building," but last time I didn't request anything (booked Garden View). Got bldg 5 ground floor facing the pool area, close to the river, which was a nice spot. I'm convinced now that they could put me anywhere in POFQ and I would be happy.

We always request a river view because I love watching it. We don't care that folks walk past our room, we open the windows and watch outside just as we would with a patio/balcony.

I have always requested building 4. I love how close it is to the food court and bus stop.

sorry to go off topic. but angie how did your trip with hurricane matthew go? I hope it went alright and you had fun. back to the thread..we have booked garden view and requested bldg 5. we were onfloor 2 overlooking the hot tub and just steps from the main pool and food court. and not far at all from the bus stops.. LOVE this resort! our only wish is that they would put in a 2nd smaller pool.. maybe in that huge grassy area between bldgs. 5 and 6. or even on the other side of bldg 7, on the way to the walkway to POR ... with some umbrella tables. (I figured as long as I'm getting bossy.. lol)

It was a blast! As all know, Matthew was a non-issues weather wise. We got in early enough on Thursday to get to Epcot for a few hours, practically had the place to ourselves. We brought food back from the bakery in Norway and left over pizza from Napoli, so we had our own food to tide us over when things were shut down. We moved from Swan to Boardwalk in the height of the storm so to speak. BWI portion was wonderful, spend the afternoon making new friends in the Abracadabra bar. In the end it turned out to be our best trip ever, even with only limited time in the parks.

And back on topic too, we are back at FQ for Thanksgiving, with 2 rooms. Hoping beyond hoping for connecting rooms and in our case, won't care where they are, as long as they are connecting. Studying Andre's maps it looks like about half the rooms connect so maybe we'll be lucky. If the weather cooperates it will be our first time we'll have time to check out the pool too. I think DGD will enjoy it

After being in building 36 at POR in April, I didn't appreciate how close we really were to everything from building 7 at POFQ (in comparison).

At POFQ, I'm happy pretty much anywhere. But I will request top floor, as I do almost everywhere, because I don't like hearing kids running around above me. This summer we had a standard view room after our cruise. Our room wasn't ready when we first arrived, so we headed to MK. We were exhausted after the cruise and around 3 headed back for a nap, having not yet received our text that the room was ready. I was nervous, but halfway there I got the text. We got to our room, and even though we paid for a standard view, we ended up getting a pool view with a better river view than our river view room we paid for at POR. It was lovely! I just love that resort, and there isn't a bad room location IMHO. Have fun!

I had not even thought about a floor request! Top floor certainly makes sense to cut down on noise.

The whole resort just looks so gorgeous, like others have said, I can't imagine being disappointed by any building!

I have a river view room... That being said how soon can you request a building and what building riverview would you suggest

If you want to be closer to POR ask for 7 or 6, for the pool & main building 5 or 2. We have been Riverview in 1,5,6 & 7 and none were a long walk to us.

How soon should you request it though
The 1st page of the POFQ thread here on the Disboards has the fax number to send requests and suggests doing it 3 to 5 days ahead of arriving. You can call and have it noted on your reservation also

We have stayed twice, both times in different locations in Building 1. It is such a short walk to everything, and the grounds are so charming we like to wander around anyway, so I really don't care where they put us next time (next weekend!).
