We just cruised on the Magic 5/12-5/15 and did not care for our server at all. My husband and a tablemate ordered steak med-rare it came out like shoe leather. Waiter no where to be found. The last day at breakfast another tablemate asked for his egg to be over real easy-well we could have played hockey with it!! Once again no waiter! Luckily my husband and I went To both Palo and Remy for 2 dinners. They were OUTSTANDING.
I assume you are talking about two different cruises, since there is no Remy on the Magic.
The way the food turns out should not reflect on the server unless he failed to convey to the chef your wishes regarding your order. When you say "Waiter nowhere to be found," are you saying that as soon as the food was delivered to the table you no longer saw your server OR assistant server (who could advise the server, who could have placed the order again to correct the situation)? If you saw neither of them, that would be the time to seek out the Head Server and if that failed, the Dining Room Manager.
As for breakfast on the final morning, they are nearly ALWAYS rushed at that time. If I attend breakfast the final day, I try to do them a favor by "settling" for an "Express Breakfast" (scrambled eggs, bacon, toast or whatever) with no particular requests as to preparation. But that's just ME.
But if you have favorite servers, it's certainly wise to request them. First you need to know that they will be working when you sail. Then you let
DCL know of your server request, preferably with their first and last name and country. There are no guarantees. You can go to the location for dining changes/reservations AFTER you board to find out if you were assigned your requested server. If not, SOMETIMES they can still arrange it, sometimes not. As calmpets stated, servers working at Palo and Remy do not work rotation dining.
