Request or Not Request a server that is...

We are sailing on the Magic next month and have several food allergies at our table, that have been notated on our reservation. When we cruised before on the Dream, our serving team was AMAZING, and set the bar very high. Do they take notated dietary restrictions into account when assigning a serving team and give those tables more experienced servers, or is it totally random? I'm afraid of taking the luck of the draw and being disappointed.

I am not aware of any kind of priority when assigning allergen tables to more experienced teams. It would make sense but the only way for the less experienced to get experience is to deal with the issue. We have never had an issue in 9 cruises with my wife's shellfish allergy.

I have found all the servers we have encountered to be wonderful with our DS's allergy. With that said, I have requested a couple of particular servers, but only when I think they are on the ship we are going on.

We requested servers and did not get them. The ones assigned to us were awful with our allergies. The head waiter (or whoever the non food serving boss is) was AWFUL too. Had I known better, I would have requested a complete change.

Well, now you know. Hopefully, you won't have issues the next time.

Maybe we've been extra lucky, but we've never had real problems with our servers. The "worst" one we've had was an assistant server who was on her second day of training onboard the ship. And she wasn't really bad, just slow, and didn't quite get the drinks correct most nights. But you could tell she was trying.

May I ask who your serving team was? We're sailing the Dream in August. Also, did you happen to see them interact with kids? Do magic tricks, etc.? Well have our 5 year old DS.

I never know if I have been disappointed since the first time BECAUSE the first ones were so wonderful and we were taken away by how well they showed us what we could ask for and receive or if the other teams really were less........

Eek, that is awful! I wonder how my family would handle that, they don't like to make waves and would probably just deal with it. I on the other hand would want to be switched, as I am the family member with the most dietary restrictions. That is probably why I'm the one worried lol

May I ask who your serving team was? We're sailing the Dream in August. Also, did you happen to see them interact with kids? Do magic tricks, etc.? Well have our 5 year old DS.

We had Alex Campo & Putra (don't know his last name unfortunately) & we all were so so sad to have to leave our last morning at breakfast! Our daughter was 6 at the time and they were beyond fabulous with her. They even made her a chair bed one night when she was super sleepy at dinner.

Thank you! Possibly the hardest decision about this cruise! Everything else, planning wise, has been easy this time around!

So Alex Campo is on the Dream? I sure was hoping he was on the Fantasy. We have requested him each and every time. We just love him so! Did he mention anything about staying on the Dream or moving over to the Fantasy. We cruise May 7th on the Fantasy. This is a picture of Alex and I back in 2009 on the Disney Magic.
