Good Morning!

I am planning on taking my two boys, ages 10 and 7, back to DL over the Presidents Day holiday. Last year was awesome, and I greatly appreciate everyone’s help with ride strategy. This time, however, we will be arriving on Wednesday, 2/12 and departing Sunday, 2/16. I’m hoping this will help with the crowds. Planning on staying at the GC again.

I have a few questions:
1. If we arrive Wednesday afternoon, is it worth buying a one day ticket to gain entrance to get a head start on SWGE? How is entrance set up for ROTR and Is MFSR? Is Oga’s fun for kids? Thought we could grab a drink there for a nice break.
2. Since SWGE was not open last year, I’m sure the boys will want to hang out there for a bit. Otherwise, they’re just interested in BTMR, SM, etc., probably no traditional dark rides, except maybe PP, since we missed that last year. Should we do all those rides first, then head to SWGE, presuming we don’t go Wednesday evening?
3. What ticket option is best and where should we purchase from? We got 3 day park hoppers last year from UT. Would current DL promo released today would fit our needs?
4. We didn’t see any fireworks or shows last year? Do you suggest reserving a dinner viewing package and if so, where? Not sure if it’s worth it for with two kids.

thank you!!

1. Possibly. ROTR will likely use boarding groups which will be gone for the day by the time you get there, but MFSR is stand-by only and should have a reasonable wait on a Wednesday evening. Oga's is fun for kids if they love the star wars universe. You will likely need a reservation, so you'd want to get that scheduled sooner rather than later, and realize that you will likely all be standing at the bar or a table and not seated.

2. SWGE is an excellent place to hang out and it is fun to watch the character interactions. Additionally, the datapad (on the parks play app) can be fun to play with for a while. If you are planning on getting droids, those interact with the environment a little, my 10 year old loved wandering around with the droid peeking out of his backpack and "interpreting" what he was saying. There are different opinions on whether to dash PP (I'm a fan of the pan dash, but I know some folks aren't). If it were me my strategy would be to use Thursday EMH at DL to dash PP, get a boarding group for ROTR enroute (or if you are first in line, while waiting for the countdown), Do Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Star Tours, and Buzz, then go ride BTM and Indy (fast pass where needed), and whatever else you want to do (pirates, HM, Jungle Cruise, etc.). Then depending on your boarding group for ROTR go hang out in SWGE, eat, etc.

3. Are you socal residents? If so then yes, the promo will be great. If not, you can still save a bit on your 7yo.

4. I like Fantasmic! from the Hungry Bear viewing area. If you do the first show, you can stay put for the fireworks. Alternatively, fireworks look pretty cool from Galaxy's Edge as well, but there's no viewing package and usually no music along with them (on NYE they played the cantina music). I don't know much about WOC dining packages so I'll let others speak to that.

1. not sure what you meant by "worth buying a one day ticket". It looks like you would be there 3 full days (Thursday - Saturday) plus parts of Wed and Sunday. Are you thinking of just getting 3 day tickets? To add a 4th day just adds $25 per ticket, then to add a 5th day adds another $15.

If you were planning for 4 day tickets anyway it seems like a no-brainer to add $15 more to go in on Wed afternoon.

If you were not going in on Sunday, just planning for a 3 day ticket, then maybe adding $40 per ticket to add the extra 2 days might be more of a calculation. On our 5 day trips we always get a 5 day hopper because going for a partial day on the arrival and departure days just rounds it out nicely and adds very little cost relative to the whole package.

Now I think I see why you were contemplating the extra day ticket. You were conflating the 3 day special kids ticket price ($199) and the question about adding an extra day (which you can't add to that kids ticket - its a fixed 3 day thing).

So its an extra $104 for a one-day ticket on Wed. bringing your kids ticket costs to just over $300 per ticket. Not sure what I would do.

Are you departing early Sunday thus not even considering the park for Sunday?

We are departing Sunday morning, so no park. Now that I think about it a little more, I may just spring for the 4 day hopper through LMTC to give us a head start on on SWGE.
