I don't do much posting on the threads, but I am a :surfweb: lurker, and I'm asking for help from my fellow Disney fans.

I'm hoping one of you may be able to aid me in helping my DGS make contact with chefs at the resort hotels at WDW. He is in culinary :stir: school and there is a program to place them in internships at The World and other locations around the country. Naturally, being my DGS, he hopes to be at Disney.

Unfortunately, we don't have a trip planned for a while, and he needs the info ASAP. I"d be ever so grateful if you can get a business card or two, names, or E-mail address for chef or chefs at any of the resort hotels. I believe he is especially interested in the Grand Floridian.

Just PM me if you have any info at all that may be helpful. Thanks for any you can pixiedust: supply!

I am not at all familiar with the internship program at Disney World but has your GS checked the Disney college program website. I think he has to be in the Disney college program to be an intern at WDW. The website has a long list of culinary schools throughout the country that have an orientation presentation for Disney. I don't think contacting an individual chef is how they fill the positions.

I've heard about the college program, and will pass that information on to our grandson. Perhaps he didn't talk to his instructors about it, or they don't know about the program. Thanks.

1) Talking to chefs won't help.
2) We tried that short cut.
3) You need to go through Casting.
4) Nine years ago, our daughter had a Culinary Internship.
5) She is now a sous-chef at a restaurant in which we have an interest.
6) From her "tour"
. . . you do not chose your kitchen, you are placed
. . . lots of competition - lots and lots
. . . she had three different interviews
. . . expect really long hours and strangely scheduled hours
. . . you will do everything from cooking to cleaning
. . . on most days, you are a member of the "line"
. . . once in a while, you get to be creative
. . . far different than just a College Program cooking stint

NOTE: She did enjoy her time at Disney. However, she learned more when she took an 8-month internship at a famous New York City restaurant.
