Why is this even still being discussed? She said it wasn't harassment.

She WAS dressed for work...HER work...on camera...for Azteca television. Anytime she might have to appear on screen (for an interview etc) she had to be dressed the way her station wanted her to be, which was "sexy" I suppose.

What is the problem??

No, but when you dress for a date it is to be noticed sexually on one level or another. If you dress like you are on a date at work you will be treated by some as though you are on that date as opposed to working. I never dress like I am going on a date when I am heading to work.

Dressing to seek attention is one thing, but when men (and even some women) think the way someone of the opposite sex dresses gives them an excuse to act like a juvenile animal, they really need to just grow the heck up (and thats about as nice as I can be on the DIS).

If you dress to seek attention and get that attention you can't act surprised. To her credit she isn't the one complaining.

If a guy wears a skin tight Under Armor shirt to show off his six pack he shouldn't be surprised if someone sees it and comments on it. The same goes for wearing skin tight pants or showing off cleavage. It's just how it is. If you don't want to be sexualized (regardless of sex) don't dress sexually. Seems like a no-brainer.

Yes, I know she isn't complaining, I am talking in general terms, and while I'm not surprised that their are neanderthals that act that way, I don't think its too much to ask that no matter how someone is dressed that an adult act like an adult when on a date, or on the job

ETA We obviously differ in what we think is attention, I see it as being noticed and maybe you see it as cat calls and whistles? Bottomline is women know how men are and we're never going to change!!!! So knowing that, women need to do what they feel is in their best interest. Dress appropriately for situations and you won't have an issue. Those jeans she was wearing don't belong in a men's locker room where men are walking around naked. That's the bottomline.

What?! First of all, "men" are not like that. Some men are like that, sure. Others have overcome it. What do you think she should have been wearing?

And you still haven't changed your original post or cited where she was complaining. And where did you pull the naked men in the locker room thing from?

It is truly a minority of men who simply cannot control their mouths in the presence of a hot chick. Most guys I know have more class than that. Lucky me eh?

Reporters travel the world to do reporters on all kinds of things for their home countries (wars, Olympics and many smaller issues). With the exception of a few country which REQUIRE female visitors to wear head coverings I have never seen the reporters dress as local reporters to do interviews for back home. Can you give me some examples of US reporters dressing according to local reporter customs when reporting from abroad? Or does it not happen but you think it should? Or do you only think it should apply to people from other places reporting from the US?

So it's mexico's customs for their reporters to dress like a street walker? By the way, from most accounts I've heard, the media is NOT on the side of this reporter (and I've heard from a lot of women in the media who also think she made a mistake in the attire she chose to wear). First of all, I do not think she is dressed "like a street walker."

My parents live in Mexico (my dad is a Mexican citizen) and yes, her attire is pretty close to the norm for female reporters that I see on the news when I visit there.

You did not answer my question or show any examples of OUR reporters dressing like the local custom to conduct interviews on foreign soil. Please actually do that rather than continue to fling insults and hope I forget the question. You are the one who said that is she comes to the US to conduct an interview she should have to dress like a typical American reporter. Please back up that reporters generally do this (dress like the reporters in the country they are in at the time).

Reporters in this country and in most of the world know how to dress when they're conducting an interview. Sorry that Ines doesn't want to be taken seriously as a reporting but instead wants to be regarded as a woman with a banging bod first and foremost.

But you haven;t. You said if she is in our country then she has to dress as we would but you then would not say the same rule should apply when our reporters visit other countries. You can't have your cake and eat it too--so which is it for you?

I do not need to debate--but I do disagree with your assertions and if you are going to insist on this double standard (the American way being the right way both for others visiting us and us visiting others--basically we are the only right ones always) then I AM going to call you on it. If you refuse to answer for yourself, well that is your choice but it only points out you indefensible position even further.

I think you adjust to the norm in the country in which you visit. When I travel abroad I try to blend in with theirs customs and not stand out as an American. I think that is part of being a good traveler. Of course I am not always successful but I make the effort.

If I were to get a job in Italy, Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia, or any other foreign country I would dress in what is considered professional in that country even if it is very different then what I wear back in the USA. Heck, if i were to get a job next door and they had a different culture (more laid back or everyone wears a suit) I would also adjust.

The rest of that discussion/argument I want no part in.
