Report on wrestling show at Universal

We made it to see Impact while we were at Universal last week and it wasn't too bad. That hardest part was waiting in line for over an hour. The first part of the wait was in the sun and it was SO hot but then Universal was kind enough to move us to a covered area which helped a lot.

The seating was good and the show was entertaining. It was a clean show, I saw no "half-naked" girls in cages which I'd been told would be there. Maybe this occurs in Nashville, their other venue? I heard no bad language from the wrestlers themselves and all in all, it was an acceptable show. The only irritating part was dealing with some of the audience members and for that reason I would make it a point to sit in the stands and not on the floor area.

My 11 year old actually touched his hero A J Styles and got some blue paint on him from Jeff Hardy. The delighted expression on his face made it all worthwhile, not to mention the non-existent cost.

It is supposed to be a permanent feature or at least until Universal decides that they've had enough.

Where is the show located? Which park? What days and how many times a week? Any other info would be appreciated. My DS is a hugh wrestling fan. :thewave:

We also saw it, just a few weeks ago. They only tape the shows on Thursday nights; then it airs on Fox Sports on Friday afternoons at 3:00pm (in Chicago) -- but check your local listings.

I agree that the worst part was waiting in line. I think we got there about an hour early -- had a nice spot in line, I thought, but it seemed like there were a lot of people cutting. It's not really run by Universal, but by Impact wrestling, so there's no FOTL type deals either.

The show takes place at Universal studios -- studio 21, I think. It is interesting to note that it is free for everyone, and you do not have to have park admission. There is a separate place to enter Universal if you are only going to see the wrestling. So, there were a lot of local wrestling fans that just come for the show.

I enjoyed it, and so did my ds (15) and dd (16). My son used to really be into the WWF/WWE, and the Impact wrestling is not the caliber. The only wrestler I recognized as a former WWE was Jeff Hardy.

Overall, like I say, we enjoyed, and for free the price was right!

baileybelle, like mrspaha said it is filmed on Thursday night. It is shot in Universal Studios in one of the big studios that are usually inaccessible. People start lining up just before 5:30 in front of a gate on the right just before the Nick Studios. We arrived at about 5:40 and waited until 6:10 when we were led to a covered area just outside the studio. The parkgoers were lined up first and then those coming from outside were allowed in. We waited in the covered area until about 6:45 and then were allowed into the studio itself. We had no problems with people cutting in line that I noticed.

I agree that the calibre of wrestling is not the same as the WWE with a few notable exceptions (AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, Raven). However, the show was clean and the wrestling is mostly of the high speed high-flying type which I consider more entertaining. Plus several of the wrestlers are nice looking which I might as well make note of if I have to sit there during valuable park time.

I'm wondering if my DH and DS would like this. I will mention it to them.

No swear words? No t & a show? They're not HUGE wrestling fans, but it may be fun for them to watch.

I didn't hear any of the wrestlers swear and only saw one girl and she was fully clothed. I hope that's the norm because it was refreshing after seeing the WWE.

Now some of the fans got a bit wordy but that can happen anywhere. I would recommend sitting in the stands to stay away from the louder fans that hang out on the floor on one side of the ring.
