Report on GAC at Universal

We just came back from Disney, Universal and SeaWorld. I have three boys, one of which is "somewhere" on the Spectrum. He "looks" very typical and people just don't understand or "see" his challenges. Waiting in lines is horrendous for him. Waiting for just about anything is horrendous for him!

We used the GAC with no problem at all at all three parks. The only comments I got were from ignorant guests who could not understand why we were given any type of diffrent treatment. People would stare, make comments, etc. It was horrible.

My family would never in a million years be able to enjoy Disney and the other parks at this time of our lives if it were'nt for the pass. It gave us some normalsie (sp?) and I can't tell you how much that made us happy. We actually bought into the DVC this trip because it was such a great family vacation for us. My son always seems to make a few giant steps after coming back from Disney and I'm not sure if that would happend if he were to be put under the stress right now of waiting in hour long lines to go on his favorite rides. Hopefully, someday we can though!

I'd also like to mention that the pass has helped my other two children as well. They actually get to see my son happy, meltdown-less, interacting with them and others, I could go on and on. I've actually written a thank you letter to Disney letting them know how much I appreciate them putting this pass into place.

Just my two cents!

I agree with everything you describe about both the Autism Spectrum child & the NT (neurotypical) siblings. What a good idea to contact Disney about it. Who/where is the most appropriate place to send comments like these? Our experiences sound almost identical (including the miracle "leaps" with each WDW visit!) Thanks!

I have gotten things answered in the past by sending an email to the address link at the official Disney site: www.disney.com and putting ATTENTION: Special Needs Dept. in the subject

Thanks for the info! Maybe it would do some good for Disney to hear some of the positive impact of the GAC....
