Howdy all.

Well about a year and a half ago, there was a big thread about a Women's weekend at Ft. Wilderness. It got really big, then unfortunately when it came right down to it, kindof petered out, but myself and my coworker Susan went, had a great time, did some drinkin, did some loopin, camped in the best weather you could imagine, and visited the parks and a little bit of DTD.

We left work on Wednesday, April 22nd about 2pm and headed South. Just boring stuff that day, long drive. Stopped in Tifton, GA at a Ramada. Pretty nice hotel. Bed and a shower, right off the interstate, Waffle House next door.

Thursday, April 23rd back on the road again, and got to use my SunPass for the first time on this trip. Really, really nice to be able to buzz right through the tolls. We also stopped at the Okahumpka Service Center cause Susan LOVES Dunkin Donuts and we don't have one around here, so got a dozen donuts. Yummy!!!

We pulled under the Disney sign about 11:45 am:

When we arrived at the Fort, checkin was really quick and our site was available. We got site 2061. Plenty of space, right next to the comfort station. Only down was right next to the road, but other than that, perfect.

Here are a few pictures of us all set up:

We got a golf cart from Kenny at Tee Time. As everyone else said, excellent service, and a great price!! You can't ask for more from him. The only downside is scheduling the pickup and dropoff. I almost wish he would have a set time, that way, I wouldn't feel like I was inconveniencing him. I can imagine he makes a lot of runs back and forth to the Fort.

After getting set up, we went to DTD and rode the new balloon, awesome!!

Then we were starving, so went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner. While it's not great food, it's decent food, and I have a Safari card which gives me instant seating. That's the most important thing. We walked up and they were telling folks over an hour wait and we were seated within 5 minutes.

We took a couple of silly pictures around DTD, then headed back and went to bed!!

More to come soon!!

Carol- Thanks for sharing! Great report, so far. I didn't know Tee Time rented such nice carts. The photos I have seen previously were of white, older looking carts. That cart you rented looks brand new. I may have to cheat on the Bike Barn on my next visit.

Did you ask for the 2000 loop?

You are the first person that I have heard from about the balloon ride. I may have to check that out too.

I agree with you about the weather. It has been gorgeous in Florida for the past couple of weeks.

Keep the installments coming!

Sorry I missed you! It would have been great to meet you in person. We were in the 1500 loop, without a cart or bikes, so it wasn't until Saturday evening that I finally got around to walking over to the 2000 loop. Unfortunately you weren't there at the time, (about 9pm) but all those scouts were! Wow, it was a lot noisier than it was in 1500. Maybe someday in the future we'll get back, I can only hope!

I LOVE your trailer....... I wonder if when i get one i can get away with something like that....

Great report so far. We did drive by a couple of times but you weren't "home". (I think some of your neighbors throught we were stalking you. I'm surprised no one told you that there was some crazy lady and a bunch of kids in a golf cart (from Kenny, black with the palm trees on the front, like yours) that kept driving by and slowing down past your site, lol). Sorry we missed you - hopefully next time we can meet! (I did, however, have a frozen mudslide in your honor). :)

So there were only 2 wild women, what a shame. ;) So, did you live up to the name ? :lmao:

Yes I did ask for the 2000 loop. I've been in 1500 a few times and while I love the location, I've always been pleased with the "site layout" of 2000 sites much better. Absolutely guaranteed to have the room I need to spread out my "stuff" and with the cart, location is not a big deal.

We also looped through 1500 and saw it was still pretty full on Monday, our loop emmmptied out on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for sharing your TR Carol. Love your setup - just looks so comfy and homey! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more... popcorn::

next time a womens trip comes up I would like to go. Although I wouldn't be able to pull my 5th wheel, hubby does that. What were the plans for all the women, where were they going to stay?

Some were going to bring their campers solo, some were talking about sharing a cabin, some were talking about setting up a tent in the back of somebody's camper site. Some were going to travel with their spouses, but if enough had shown up, we were going to send the guys off somewhere and have an evening of just sitting around somebody's site and running our mouths and drinking.

I dunno Denise. We did have drinks with dinner every night and fixed a couple of drinks at the campsite every night.

We never have stayed in the 2000 loop. The sites look pretty big. How would you describe the loop?

Love the pictures Carol!:lovestruc
Your site looks great..weather looks like it was wonderful! Thanks for sharing.

That looks like alot of FUN! Wish I could have been there:thumbsup2. Thanks for sharing!

Can't wait to read more! I could just sit and relax under your canopies for hours!

So how much are Kenny's carts and do they have a website? this might be a good option for us in june.

To continue on, we get up bright and early Saturday morning, and Susan tells me she had an "interesting" night. For one, she was freezing. In my tent "kit" there is an electric mattress pad and electric blanket, but we didn't plug up either of those because it was "hot", so we made sure to grab the plugs so she could be warm for the future. She also said that an armadillo decided that bumping along the edge of her tent during the night was a fun thing to do.

We spent the day at Epcot

The Jammitors have a retooled set of cans to match the theme of the Flower and Garden Festival. In addition to the garbage cans, they also have a drum set of flower pots and their costumes are "green" instead of the white custodial costumes.

We had dinner at Rose & Crown. We had hoped to get a table on the porch, but didn't. However we were surprised by the server. He told us to show our receipt at the checkin desk about 15 minutes before Illuminations and we would be taken to a private viewing area. It's a small roped off area just to the left of the outside seating area.

After Illuminations we went and had some character pictures made. We were tired and it was late and the characters were silly. It was lots of fun!!

After getting back to the campsite, we had our nightly Amaretto HotShot and off to bed!!
