I can't help you on the January issue, but I have stayed at all the value resorts and I can say that Pop is the best, that may have something to do with the fact that it is the newest, but I really enjoyed the theming. The rooms are smaller than the others, but with my family it doesn't really matter because we are rarely in the room except to sleep. I thought that the food at the pop food court was better than the others. Hope this helped.

Late January can be very iffy. You may have nice sunny weather in the low 70's or you may have rainy, damp weather in the high 40's. That is how winters in Central Florida are. Usually jeans, short sleeved shirts and take a pair or 2 of shorts and definitely sweatshirts, gloves and hats. Also, don't forget the rain gear. You may be comfortable swimming, but being from Florida, it has to be in at least the 80's before I venture in.

As for the value resorts, I would go for Pop or AS-Mo

I can't recomend one because i'm in the same position, 1 trip. I've read that at POP the beds are on a pedestal instead of on a fram. to me it made a diffrence 'cos i want to be able to push one bed against the wall for more room and for my 3 yr old sleeping in it. don't know if that makes a difference but i'm sure wherever you stay its gonna be great!

We went mid Feb of this year and it was chilly. We saw lots of people wearing their pants and long sleeves. I was wearing my capri and I had a light jacket on. Some indoor attractions can get pretty cold. The temp was around mid 60s to low 70s. At night it felt about 50s and it was freezing cold swimming at night!

I would suggest bring a pair of pants and a light jacket just in case it gets cold. It is kind of hit or miss. We were in Disney last year January and it was nice. It was about low 80s. We were wearing our shorts and t-shirt. We were not cold in the pool.

I just copied this from my other post...
I love ASMo and PoP! As far as which is better... OK...I guess I would have to say PoP! First of all it is the newest. I think the bus service is better. Sometimes ASMo shares the bus with the ASMu and ASsp too. I think the pool at the PoP is a little bit more funner. I love the fact that we can watch the Epcot fireworks (50s-60s 4th floor facing the lake). You can rent a surrey bike and bike along the lake, it is nice.

We went at that time this year and the weather couldn't have been better. We wore cotton long pants, capris, shorts, sandals, &short-sleeved shirts. Saw many people in the pool and some at BB. The weather was mostly dry and warm; nights were cool enough for a light jacket. It was really heavenly. January can be iffy so prepare for cold weather, too. :3dglasses

We were there this year from January 28 to February 7. The evenings were chilly. We wore gloves many nights and we are from Colorado so we are not wimps. It was still very nice however. The days were pleasant, we wore our jackets in the morning and then put them in the backpack or tied them around our waists. I had gotten some of those pants where the bottom of the legs zip off to make them into shorts for my kids. They were great! DH and I wore jeans and I wore capris some too. I would pack a variety of clothes and take a warm, lightweight jacket. My Columbia fleece jacket was perfect for the evenings. Also, those cheapie lightweight gloves you get at Wal Mart were wonderful. We swam, the pools were nice and warm. Just remember where your towel is so you can get to it fast! It was a great time to go, I am sorry our school schedule has changed and that time won't be available to us again! We have stayed at Pop and All Star Movies. I prefer the theming at All Star Movies but the rooms at Pop were a little bit nicer because they were newer. They are the same size rooms however. You cannot go wrong with either one, pick the one that appeals to you the most and have fun!

We just got back from Jan. 29 thru feb. 9th the weather was ok the first few days but down right chiily towards the end. We stayed at the AKL for $119 a night standard, check around. We had booked elsewhere but changed in nov. when the new rate came out. Good luck. We loved it the parks were empty.

"You may have nice sunny weather in the low 70's or you may have rainy, damp weather in the high 40's."

And that often describes different parts of the same day.

We have been in January several times. We usually start the day with jackets on and take them off when the sun comes out, then put them back on when the sun goes down.
It can be chilly in the shade also, so keep your jackets handy.
We are from texas so this is how our weather is here too. It can be beautiful or freezing.
You have to pack more, because you have to pack both sets of clothes.
Before you leave look up the ten day outlook...it will give you at least some idea what to expect.

The weather in January is wacky. We stayed on at POR Jan 21, 22, 23 and the temps were pretty cold. The highs were at most 70 and the lows were in the low 50's high 40's. Then the next Wed and Thurs the highs were near 80, so we took ds to BB after school. Then Feb 4th weekend we stayed at Pop and it was another cold one. Fri night the temps went in the 30's---but the swimming pool at pop was very warm, just hard to get out of it. As for staying at Pop, the theme was great. We had room 9134 in the 80's area. It was a great location. Close to the food court, the parking lot, and the 80's pool. Unfortunately, the great location brought alot of foot traffic by our room, so we heard people walk by at all hours of the day and night. We had alot of fun that cold weekend at Pop. We walked around the property and played with the props and stuff. DS and I had a fun game of Twister on our way back to our room. The biggest hassle at Pop was check in. The line was huge and it took us well over an hour to check in. We stayed at All star Music in Sept. Check in there was a 10 minute process. We were on the 2nd floor of the Jazz building and really enjoyed our stay. We were close to the piano pool, and not too far from the food court. Being on the 2nd floor was nice since we didn't have all that foot traffic going by our room, making it seem quieter.

January is my favorite time to visit WDW. However, the weather can be quite tricky! I always pack for both warm and cold weather. It can be in the 80's, but it can also get very cold. I have been there several times when there was a heavy frost (signs were placed by flower beds stating that Jack Frost had visited.) One year the wind chill was 18.

It's best to be prepared for anything that time of year! :flower:

We always go in January, third or fourth week. This year we went end of Jan into Feb. PERFECT weather! Not too cold, we swam a couple days without freezing like in the middle of January. We wore Tshirts or lighter long sleeve shirts during the day, had our jackets for mornings and evenings. We wore capris or light pants, jeans every day. One or two of the days we could have worn shorts but the capris were better for being out later in the cold. ABSOLUTELY love it then. not too hot where you are sweating, and not too cold (we're from Pittsburgh so anything above 20 is warm LOL) Oh we take a couple sweatshirts and used those too some nights when it was colder under our jackets. Epcot seems to be the coldest with the lake there. This year I actually got tan on my face. The sun was out almost every day. Pack for spring/fall weather (low 50s for lows mid 70s for highs) and you are all set and pack that bathing suit just in case.

As far as Values, I can tell you, we've stayed at Movies in 2002, 2003, 2005. We stayed at Pop 2004. After this past trip, we will be going back to Pop I believe. We stayed in Buzz section at Movies this trip and I gotta tell ya, the rooms are looking beat up. The furniture had lots of dings of in, the wall outside the room had a HUGE hole in it and I didn't see a sidewalk get cleaned the whole week we were there, which is unusual. I was always amazed that in the early morning, late night I would see CMS washing sidewalks and the icons etc. But this trip it didn't happen once. And I was looking for it by the end of the week. Same stains, spills there all week. The food court wasn't as good either. Pop has much better desserts than Movies. Though the bus service can't be beat at any of the Values, Pop didn't share with anyone else. It might be more crowded at Pop though since its the newest hotel. Unless we go deluxe which I don't think we will, we will stay at Pop next year. Or unless they do a refurb of Movies this year. Oh and one other thing bugged me about Movies. We stopped at Sports to visit a friend of mine and in the looby at Sports there was a table with crayons and coloring pages for kids to do. Movies didn't have that and my kids love things like that. Oh and Pop gives you the shampoo bottles, Movies doesn't.

I read here that they ARE refurbishing AllStars this year...so far the Mighty Ducks section is done and they're moving on to the rest. I read that they're putting in new carpets and bedspreads, but I hope they're also doing some repairs from what you saw!!!

We were there from Jan. 12-16 this year. The week BEFORE our trip was glorious - sunny with temps in the low 80's! We had two beautiful days, one day where it POURED rain, and one day of cold mist. I read that it is "unusual" to have an entire day of rain, but trust me, if you get an entire day of rain the fact that it is "unusual" is very little comfort!!!

The week after our trip seemed to have it's fair share of crummy weather - damp and lower temps - so it really does vary. I was checking the extended forecast every day and it still wasn't all that accurate. Not until Thursday night did the Orlando weather say it was going to rain ALL day Friday, and they were right. Prior to that they were saying 40% chance.

We stayed at Pop and loved it.

We have been twice in January. In 2002 it was mostly reasonably warm days... probably in the 70's most days. Except we did get one entire day of rain. But it wasn't too cold. We were able to make due with ponchos over our shorts. In 2004 it was a bit of a different story. We had a few nice days of mid to high 60's temps, one half day of downpours (but not terribly cold), a day of mid 50's....by 6pm we had to leave Epcot because we were too cold to stay for Illuminations. We all had on shorts with t-shirts and sweatshirts. We are from NH, so we also are not wimpy about the cold! But when the street carts start selling mitten and blankets, then it is cold in WDW! But it isn't enough to keep us from going in January. We are currently planning a Jan 2006 trip. You can't beat the off-season prices and short lines!......P

ETA.... it was -11° F the morning we left home for FL in 2004... so mid-low 50's sounded GREAT!!

ETA also... If you decide to go in January, keep a small bag packed with warmer clothes and put it in a locker each day at the parks. It could "save" your day! We would hav been able to stay for Illuminations if we had a bag packed with warmer clothes that day! But we learned our lesson the next day and were able to attend Fantasmic and be nice and snug and warm!...P
