With the new Star Wars MagicBands coming out, my kids are desperate for them. We currently have an AP and have our current MagicBands. If we buy a new MagicBand, can we just go to customer service or maybe even on the web and change it to the new one? Has anyone done this before, maybe one broke or was lost? Thanks in advance for any answers!

MagicBands are linked to MDE profiles and you can have many MagicBands assigned to a single profile.

With the other MagicBands they sell, the CM at the register assists in linking the MagicBand to your MDE profile. It's possible they will do the same for these.

Okay great, so they just link it right when buying it? That's even better. I bet anything they can link the account faster than they were able to put the cover on my sons MagicBand.

Is there a picture of these online somewhere?

They were announced on the Disney Parks blog (limited edition of 2,500 of each design, no pricing yet). These can only be purchased at Darth's Mall during the final Starwars Weekend (June 13-15).

Those are sweet. I wish I could get my hands on one.

I agree with PP....you should be able to link it to your account on your own via MDE. You can have as many magic bands as you want linked to your account. They should all work.

Update on pricing of the Starwars LE MagicBands. They are $29.95 (plus tax) each.

does it work the same for this case?(please bear with me, new to all this MB stuff)
We are staying a night on property before out off-site check in. Our DD "may" stay the night with us so I added her to our ressie, totaling 4 MB. She recently got her FL AP but didn't get a magic band yet (I'm not sure how that works, she is a first time AP holder and this is our first trip since MB implemented) So I am guessing she will be getting a MB soon as she would like one. Then, if she checks into the resort w/us they will activate her second one at that time? or can a CM activate it at the parks if she chooses? She doesn't really need it but since she is on the ressie it will be sent to us with ours.

AP and Resort MagicBands are already linked to the appropriate MDE profile(s) when they are shipped. They are active out of the package.

Also, there is no difference between MagicBands received for a resort stay and those received for being an Annual Passholder. They can all be used interchangeably.

Thank you..I'm starting to climb out of the "clear as mud" stage , lol

You can go to concierge desk at a WDW resort and they can link the new Star Wars one for you if you like. :thumbsup2

It will link your AP pass to the new Star Wars band, too.
If you're not staying at a WDW resort, a Cast Member can help you set up the new one. All your MagicBands and cards can be used interchangeably as long as they’re active.

For example, I have 3 active Magic Bands just assigned to me. You can choose to deactivate a Magic Band at any time via the My Disney Experience App/website.

Those are cool! :thumbsup2

We had to replace my DD's magic band while at Magic Kingdom last week. The plastic tabs holding it closed broke. We did the replacement at the magic band counter in the Emporium. They were able to link the magic band to our account so it continued to work like the old one and gave us the AP discount on the purchase.

The cast member reminded us that we can go online and remove the old magic band from the account using the number on the back of the band.

Wish they would have had those Star Wars bands out while we were there.

Do you know how this works with resort room access? Say I have 5 MBs....will all 5 open my room door or just one?

All five should, as long as they are active on your MDX profile.

Fantastic. I will be in the world 7/1-11 and want to try the whole switching bands daily...thought it would be fun but worried about the whole room key factor.

Thanks!

You should test all of them on your door to make sure that they all will unlock it.

Oh I plan to. I was just curious if anyone else has tried this.

Nothing would be worse than being locked out of your room because of something like this.

I realize these new SW bands are limited edition, so there is certainly some appeal in that (and they are pretty cool), but if you can't find them or otherwise don't want to spend $30, you can go to www.dvccentral.com and get some vinyl decals (SW or other designs) to put on your existing MBs. I am not affiliated with that site, and there might be other sites with similar decals (if so, I'd love to know what they are)...that's just the one I've seen so far, and my kids are already making their lists of what they want. I think most of them are around $6 or $7.
