On Good Friday (oh, the irony!), my sons and I took a walk in a local recreation area. When we got back to the car, someone had thrown a rock through my car window and stolen my purse. Of course, after the initial shock, the police reports and the calming of my sons, I started to take inventory of what I had lost.
I reported my credit cards and froze my bank account and no one had even attempted to use them. The police are certain it was perhaps a drug user looking for quick cash, and I had maybe $2.00 in change.:sad2: I also had several gift cards (Starbucks, McDonald's, restaurants, etc) including the Hallmark cards from grandma we were on our way to spend on Webkinz. Try explaining why we can no longer get one to a 6 year old! But I doubt, short of food, that a purse snatcher is going to buy greeting cards...It was then that I realized that our family's Christmas presents from my sister's family (Disney gift cards for the kids' souvenirs) were all in that purse. The rest I can swallow, as annoying and saddening as it is knowing that they are sitting unused in a dumpster. But it breaks my heart to think that my entire kids' Disney budget is gone and we may not be able to afford to replace it.
So after my long, involved and somewhat pitiful tale, I was wondering if there was any way to replace them? They have obviously not been spent, and my sister would have a credit card receipt...do they need the actual verification numbers?? Is there any hope of getting these re-issued? I am just hoping for a small silver lining. The replacement of the window alone is more than the cost of our hotel in Disney, and I'm trying not to get too bitter, but I need something good to happen. :confused3

I would start by having your sister contact the location where she purchased the gift cards. If it was at a Disney Store she should go there. If online or at a Park have her call the WDW Main number (407-824-2222) and work from there. It would be best if she had the receipt; it might show the serial numbers of the cards issued. At the very least she should have information about the date and location and the credit card that was used for the purchase.

I'm not saying it will be done, but once they have the numbers of the card it would be easy to see if they have been used. And if they have not, they may be able to cancel and reissue them.

On a side note, maybe you will have had a nice thief who will drop your wallet and/or purse in a mailbox; the Post Office will return it to you if that was done.

I think you have to have the entire gift card number from the back of the card. The purchase receipts only have part of the number - the last 4 digits show as X's so you would have had to write down the numbers from the card to have the whole thing.

The back of the card reads "Lost, stolen, or damaged cards can not be replaced without required proof of purchase and complete gift card number."
The number is 1-877-650-4327 if you want to call and see what they say. Good luck!
