Replace studio queen beds with king size beds?

What would be to effect of replacing the queen bed to a king bed in DVC studios?

Love the living space that a sofa sleeper provides the studio although I would be in favor of the existing queen bed being replaced with a king size bed. How much would that reduce the “living” area?

I think it would be way too cramped for parties that do need to use the sleeper sofa.

I wish it had a King as well. It's almost made me want to spend the extra points for the one bedroom. Hmmmm, perhaps that's the very reason for the queen size in the first place.

Personally I would love it, but I think Chuck is right, it might be too cramped.

Solution: start making the units bigger again. They've gotten smaller and smaller with each resort. I say go back to OKW size!! :thumbsup2

I don't think they could do it.

Right now, with the queen sized bed, night stand, sleeper sofa and end table, you are right up against the slider window. The king bed is another 6 inches wider if I recall. They'd have to do away with some of the furniture in the room.

I'm sure some on here would perceive that as an occupancy increase.

that is why I like the studios at the Marriott much better - a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa - same as a 1-bedroom.

their kitchennett have real dishes too.

Yes, I'd be thrilled with a King bed in the studios. Then, DH and I could book a studio rather than a 1 BR to get that king bed. We sleep in a king bed at home and would feel much too cramped in a queen.

I have a king bed at home too, but that is exactly why I don't stay in the studios much. I don't think DVC can just change that configurartion though. It has to remain the same bedding example as was sold in your contract.

Is this something that could be discussed at the December members meeting and perhaps voted on?
I would like to see some of the dedicated studio units changed and then see what the requests for those units would be like.

you actually want to ask members to change the contract....

that is like opening the flood gates.

the only studio big enough for this is OKW.

all the others have a problem now with space.

I have not read the contract, do we know that it is spelled out exactly what the bed floor plan would be like?

The existing resorts can not be changed without a member vote from every member of the resort they wish to change, that in itself, would be an expensive and time consuming undertaking. Then the cost of physically replacing the beds...no thanks.

The vote would be requird as it is a "substantial" change to the accomodatios each member initially purchased, and as I said, costly. If you feel you truly need a king bed, you are free to reserve a one bedroom or larger unit. When some member expressed an interest at an annula meeting of changing OKW to the bed/sofa configuration, this was the reason given.

I think it would be too cramped on the floor space with a king bed in the studios.

My guess would be that if they put a king in the studio that those who now use it for 5 ( not counting child under 3 ) will now use it for 6 people :lmao: :lmao:

lets see 4 in the king and 2 on the sofa = 6

OKW 2 kings = 8 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Not much benefit to replacing the Queen with a King when the person you share the bed with chooses to lie sideways across the bed & use your ankle for a pillow: DS(9)

For a family of 3 I think I'd prefer bunks instead of a couch.
