Has anyone here succesfully done this on your own? My ds 6 accidently dropped a glass on ours and it shattered. I have looked and I can get the part and I was just wondering if we would be able to replace it ourselves without to much trauma? Lol

Yep, I discovered the hard way that it is fairly easy to order a new glass top on-line and install it yourself (or in my case dh installed it). If I remember correctly, with our stove there were just a few screws to remove/replace with the new cooktop. (I have a Whirlpool Gemini).

It depends on how old your unit is whether this is worth fixing. My grandma's glasstop malfunctioned last year. We estimated it was 8-10 years old. According to Consumer Reports, it is not worth fixing if it more than 8 years old.:scared1:

They don't make things to last anymore.

Luv was there connections that had to undone and reconnected? Fairly simple?

Mere the unit is prob barely 3 years old. Came with the house and ut was built in 2007.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered the part should be here Monday.
