I have heard you can rent text books for college. Is this true??? We are still 2 years away from college but I thought this might be a good place to ask and get any information that I can on it~just so I'm prepared.

you sure can rent text books! its actually a good thing, especially for your basic classes when you know you're never going to open that book again.
chegg.com is a GREAT place to rent from. they pay for you to ship it back to them and they give you plenty of time. and the books cost like half the price even if you buy from amazon!
plus, for every book you rent from them, they plant a tree in your honor lol

Sure, several colleges offer rental service, or you can mimic renting by buying a used book on Amazon, using it for the course, and reselling it to another person at your college/resell it at Amazon :goodvibes

My school just started a textbook renting service. I'm so happy! I might not have to buy a super expensive biology book after all!!

I just ordered my books from chegg.com. Although their prices were much lower than even used books on amazon, you do have to take into account that because you're renting them you won't be making any money back by selling them at the end of the semester as you would do with textbooks you buy. (However, by renting, you don't have to deal with the hassle of trying to sell your old books, which is well worth it to me)

However, by renting them, you also don't have to deal with the chances that by the time the semester is over a new edition will be out and you won't be able to sell your now old edition. You're guaranteed to be able to get the book off your hands.
