Here are a couple responses on this subject that I posted some time ago. We have tented @ the fort 2 times now and i highly recommend it. The rental rate that I quoted was from back in 2006 so it wouldn't surprise me if the rate has gone up. Hope this info helps.

The tents are $33.75/night in addition to the camp space rental. I went ahead and popped for a "preferred" site for $148.00 for three nights with a
AAA discount. Soooo... by my math, that means, I'm gonna be paying a grand total of $83.09/night.
I'm thinking that that is pretty close to the cost per night at one of the Values but fact of the matter is -- I totally love the beauty and peacefulness of Fort Wilderness and from what I've read on the DIS boards here, I don't think I'd get my full Disney Fix @ the Pops -- although they sound great for a family with kids.
Since it's only me, I'm not gonna do any cooking at the campsite -- basically just sleep there. Obviously, if someone wanted to cook, they could save a lot more money. Wegoshop.com is a great grocery delivery service -- when DD, her BF, and I stayed in a FW cabin last January, I was very pleased with the service I rec'd. from this company.
Here is the Disney phone number to rent a tent (warning -- I have heard they are pretty basic): 1.407.939.7807 -- you will want to select option #4 for group camping -- which seems odd but at least it worked for me. I understand they also have folding cots for $5/night but I'm gonna bring my inflatable bed with me, along with towels, an itty bitty TV, collapsable camping chair, etc in my checked luggage.
This is VERY MUCH an experiment for me but I think if the weather's reasonably OK, it'll be fine. (And it sure beats the $248/night I was gonna spend at one of the cabins) Hope this helps!

This is how it turned out:
The rental tent was super roomy and brand new -- could easily have had 2 more people in it. Fort employees put it up for me (Woo-hoo!) It rained one night and I stayed perfectly dry. The only draw-back is that it was HOT -- really HOT in the evenings (record-setting temps that week).

I have since tented @ the Fort again in the spring of 2007, with my sons (Brought our own cabin tent) and it was pretty dang chilly at night -- even with the sleeping bags. I think I'll be bringing either a fan or a heater instead of the TV next time. Other than the temps, it was a very enjoyable experience. TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!
