I have a friend at work who owns DVC points and we're renting some from her for our trip in Nov. I have a couple questions regarding requests and dining reservations and thought since the DIS has always been my answer in the past that I would ask here. You are probably wondering why I wouldn't just ask my friend but she's never used the magical express, the dining plan, or had to make any special requests. Her family drives down & cooks so there any use for any of those things.
So here are my questions:
1. How do dining reservations work? Can I make those online with my confirmation # or call disney dining with it? Also, can I do the 90 + 10 reservations?
2. The rest of my family is staying in the same resort renting points, can I make a request to be close to them? If so, how far in advance do I do that?

I think I had another one but can't think of it at this minute.

Thank you for reading and answering...I love this place!

You shouldn't even need the confirmation number to call the Dining number and make reservations; not sure about the online process, as I've never used it.

The person who owns the points (your co-worker) will have to make that request for you, and can do it any time after the reservation is made (the sooner the better). Note that Member Services will probably need the EXACT name, address, etc. of the other guests in order to track down their reservation; if you can get their confirmation number, that would probably help a lot.

You don't need your conf # for making ADRs on-line either, unless you are trying to do 90+10 or you want all your dining reservations linked to your reservation so they are easier to pull up later.

You do need the confirmation # if you want to do 90 + 10. The +10 is only available for onsite guests.

Keep in mind that DVC requests are definately requests - we've had poor luck having requests met. Its probably a good idea with a "near each other" request to have it on both reservations. But you can have the owner give MS a call and add the request - it certainly doesn't hurt to ask and the chances of getting close to each other if you don't ask are pretty low.

I see from your ticker that your upcoming trip is at AKL. Be aware that your family/friends that you want to be near would have to not only have the same booking category, but also be reserved at the same building. AKV has two - Jambo and Kidani. It is possible that your friends may be quite far away from you if they are booked in different categories. Good luck...

We are renting points as well and I called Disney dining to make a few ADR's. I needed our confirmation number to get the 90+10 and that worked out just fine. :thumbsup2

I tried the online system before calling but the system was not able to find our DVC reservation so I couldn't do the 90+10 online - I vaguely remember reading elsewhere that this is a problem with the online system and DVC reservations. But if you call with your ressie number you can reserve at 90+10 days with no problems.
