I am considering renting points for our vacation in May!:cool1:

If I rent points, is it still possible to get the DDP? If so, how do I go about doing this? (I am planning on getting discounted park tickets through AAA.)

I am thinking about requesting a studio, for financial reasons... Is a studio at one of the resorts going to be significantly nicer than a room at POR. I have never been to either, so I am unsure if they will be about the same!

Any recommendations about which resort to request... we have a DS5, so I was thinking the BWV looks like fun... any suggestions???

Thanks for your help! I am a major type A/planner/worry wart and can never make decisions!:sad2:

doesn't make it difficult for you to accept the fine points of renting a reservation from a member. The member fully controls the reservation until the moment you check in. You won't be able to confirm the reservation except for getting a copy of the confirmation from the member. You can't call Member Services for any reason. Disney just isn't involved in this transaction and it's just between you and the member.

Currently DVC members can get the DDP with their reservations on points at DVC resorts and so can others who rent a reservation from them. The member must notify DVC about your decision a few days before the start of the reservation - you can't just show up and decide you want to to this. You'll pay when you check in.

If your son likes swimming, Stormalong Bay at the BCV (and BC/YC) might just be what you are looking for. It's a very busy pool area, some really deep areas (like up to 8 feet deep in the "lazy river"). But lots of people like it because of the slide and sand bottom.

Most of the DVC studios will have one queen bed and a full (?) pullout. That's different than the two full beds you'd get at POR. Better?

Note that if you are looking at BW because it looks like there are rooms for cheaper points - its really late to book those rooms - plan on spending the "preferred view" points.

Don't forget the DDP changes considerably for 2008. Many think it's not the same 'value' as in the past. You might want to consider if you still want DDP or not.

Great advice about the Type A comment. I think I will be okay with that as long as I am comfortable with the person and trust them... I guess that will be the big issue here!

I do think that I would like a preferred room. However, I did have a question about that. Is it a preferred view or a preferred location (closer to the main area)? I know in some of the value resorts, it sounds like it is more of a location since they are so spread out. Do you not have to worry about location so much in the delux resorts?

I will look at the BCV... my guide book says good things about it.

Which would you say, BCV, BWV or VWL, as a better pool for a child who is not an "olympic" swimmer (he can do it, but not really good)?

I have done extensive research on the new plan and think I have figured out that I would pretty much get desserts free... but yeah, it is something. Of course, I am waiting to see if the Pirate and Princess Party will be happening when we are there, switch my schedule and see where we want to eat then. I guess it also depends on where we stay and what restaraunts we would want to eat at!!!

Thanks for all the great advice so far!

BWV views are either standard (ie parking lot, front drive views) or preferred (water view, garden views, BW views). BW views are a specific request and need to be requested 11 months ahead of time. Standard views are the ones Crisi referred to as going very quickly because they require fewer points.

The BW themed pool has a circus theme and has what some people call the scary clown slide (you slide down and come out the clown's mouth).

 Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that clown is scary, LOL. That thing reminds me of the clown in Stephen King's "It" for some reason :scared:

OP, thanks for asking about the Standard and Preferred rooms. We're also looking at BWV for next October and didn't know that the Standard rooms go quicker. We may have to figure out how many points we are going to need for the Preferred if the Standards sell out before we are ready to actually book our trip. Better for us to know the most we might need to pay.

I own my own points at Boardwalk, generally have booked eleven months out, control when I call Member Services and can call day by day first thing in the morning, and my ASSUMPTION each trip is that I will not get a Standard View or a Boardwalk View and that I'll be looking at the scary clown pool. We've only had that view once, and that was a trip my husband made on shorter notice.
