I heard you can rent points, but I am not really sure how that works. Say a particular resort for a week is 194 points does that mean per person? I looked at Saratoga for one week in Nov. and it said 194 points. So do you find someone who can rent that many points and what are the options>

The points indicated are for the room. Unlike regular WDW reservations, there is no additional charge for more than 2 adults and no room tax - only the rate paid for the room itself.

All details of the reservations are between you and the member you rent from. I would always suggest looking at past posts on the DIS to get a feel for the person you rent from and also to get and check references. Make sure you are comfortable with all of the financial arrangements.

Just post a "Reservation Wanted" request on the DVC Rent/Trade Board and see if someone responds. You might also want to respond to members offering to rent their points by making reservations.

Good luck! :)

Actually, you can rent a reservation. It's referred to as renting points, but that's not accurate. The points still belong to the owner and you couldn't use them if you did have them. One of the many things that are important about renting a ressie is that the ressie remains fully in the control of the owner until you check in.

NO. It's 194 points for the room...not per person. That's for however many people are allowed in that particular class of rooms.

Your first step should be to go to the DIS DVC Rent/Trade board and read the FAQ at the top of the page. That "sticky" contains a ton of important information, and also tells you how your request for a rental must be worded.

After you do that, if there is anything you don't understand, come back here and ask more specific questions.
