I was just looking at our hotel needs post Disney Dream and was thinking of staying * @ ** the day we get back from the ship and then probably staying at a value resort...total 5 nights

browsing around I found a company that advertises here that rents points Details removed
seems to good to be true???

we plan on going to AK, Epcot 2 days & then Universal (possibly 1 or 2 days)....is this a good idea?

thanks!

The only warning is once you stay DVC there is no going back !!! Enjoy your stay, you might even decide to become a member yourself. :)

...so no problems that you are aware of?

none. David's is one of the sponsors of these boards and many members deal with him. I have not, but trust me, if anything were "off" it would be all over these boards!
And Mom popins is right....;)

Just double check that the reservation is available for your dates! It could be that it's cheap because the points are expiring soon. Not that anyone would be taking advantage of you - but I don't know what dates you are traveling OR if they are distressed points.

Never hurts to verify! Bon Voyage

Hi

I am a DVC owner and the price you'll pay for renting points is a lot less than that if you booked a villa on cash. It's worth it.

We stayed at the WL Villa (studio) for $1,200. Renting points for a studio does seem to be less expensive than the rack rates. We loved it and would do it again :cool1: Have fun.

David rents his points for 13.00 so you can figure out how many points you will need at the time of year you are going to get an approx. price for your specific ressie. He does offer discounts and last minute deals! Very reputable

It is different. If you look at a regular AKL room vs an AKV studio, your bedding is worse in the studio - one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa vs two queen beds. But compared to a value resort - that only has two double beds. Beds are important to me. We never stay in anything smaller than a one bedroom.

You don't get housekeeping every day. It's very limited with DVC because DVC is a timeshare. Limited housekeeping is a way to keep the annual fees lower. But if you want daily housekeeping, you can pay extra for it.

Members don't offer the same cancellation policy as Disney directly. If you can't go at the last minute, you might be stuck with your DVC reservation without any refund.

Most members book at 11 months out at their home resort. So if you wait too late, what you hope to get might not be available. Value villas at AKV are very limited in number. They are smaller, so they require fewer points, so they go faster.

i was booking a trip on saturday, and thru some general conversation with a DVC CSR we got on the subject of David's. The rep told me they never had any complaints about David's service. One thing they pointed out though was NEVER let them sign on as an associate member on your membership.

He can't do that anymore. DVC closed that loophole. Now he just lines you up with a member who wants to rent out their points.

Hi,Do you know what he charges for his services?? Thanks, Joan

If you sign up for his newsletter, every now and then you'll get a last minute deal. Last one I got was $9 a point, 35 point minimum. Best I saw was $7 a point. They are usually limited to the immediate future (between date of email and next 3-4 weeks).

David offers a wonderful service! We booked our first trip through him in 2009 and had so much fun we bought into DVC through resale when we got back. We were able to stay in a 1BR at AKV for 5 nights for less than it would have cost to stay in a mod! Have a great trip :thumbsup2
