I'm new to this...pls bear with me... :wave2:
BF and I are talking about buying into DVC. Figured we would rent points before we do this...but that leads me to a ton of questions...
-Do we have to be DVC members to rent points?
-Is my name on the ressie or is the DVC members?
-Do we get a confirmation number that will confirm our ressie...So we know we will be staying at agreed location etc...
-Can I add the dining plan on when I get there? Or do I have to do it when I make my ressie?
-Can I purchase park hoppers at check in? Or do I need to purchase these prior to arrival? We like to have everything on our KTTK card. And BF would have more to worry about loosing.

Will someone please educated me in DVC Points Rental...I'd really appreciate it! popcorn::

- You do not have to be a DVC member to rent points
- Both names are on the reservation
- You should get a copy of the reservation sent to you by the DVC owner you rent from. It will have all the information on it, including the reservation number.
-You need to add the dining plan at least one day before you arrive, but you don't pay for it until you get there. You can not add it when you arrive.
-I"m not sure about tickets, but I would think you could by then at check in.

Who adds it, you or the member you are renting points from?
The owner must call MS to add the Dining Plan to the points reservation. MS does not accept calls from non-members. The renter pays for the DP at check in. We have reports that this must be done anywhere from 1 day to 3 days in advance. If you want the DP, be sure to give the owner several days lead time to call MS for you or risk being disappointed. The DP cannot be added to a DVC reservation at check in.

OP - Yo may buy your tickets anywhere you please (including check in). If you want your ticket on the resort ID, just ask the CM at check in. They can now do this, even if you purchased your MYW ticket at a discount broker.

Best wishes -

Your name will be on the reservation, but the member's name will be on the confirmation sheet. It will be sent to them and they will need to get it to you. You will not be able to confirm the reservation with the resort until about 4-5 days ahead of checking in.

Thanks for the replies...Now to pitch this to BF!!! So, just to confirme we CAN purchase park tickets at check in...ok works for me!!!
How about the confirming check in...I thought memeber services doesnt talk to non DVC people. If that is the case how can I call and confirm my check in??? Or will I be calling the hotel directly???
thank you so much for your help!!!

There are a few threads out there right now about non-owners confirming their reservation. Your printed confirmation is about all you have. You can call the resort once they get the information (about 4-5 days out from the start of your reservation). The member fully controls the reservation until the moment you check in. An unscrupulous member could cancel this anytime up to your check in if they wished.

The low price for the deluxe villa has some risks and this is one of them.

Yes, you can purchase tickets directly from Disney when you check in.

You cannot use the toll free Member's line as a non-member to confirm a reservation.

Reservations are passed to the individual resorts' computers a few days before checkin. So you can use the individual resort's phone number to call direct, and verify at that time.
