Okay, I hope I'm in the right forum here but I have a question about renting points for the first time. I haven't signed any contract yet but have a couple different people who have looked into renting for me; they both have a confirmation (one has my family names & ages, the other does not). Neither has experience renting to people yet and I'm confident that everything will be great with either one; however, since I haven't signed anything yet nor has a confirmation sent or monies exchanged, can I cancel one and go with the other without penalties?

Any help would be appreciated!!

You may want to post this question on one of the DVC forums. I don't think that there will be a penalty, but I would let them know right away if you are not interested. It is just the nice thing to do for someone who has taken the time to look for you. Why did you have two people check? Why didn't you wait for an answer from the first person you asked?

You should let your renters know as soon as possible. If they've each made a reservation for you, they've both tied up points for you, and only one of them needed to do that.

For the penalties question, there are no Disney related penalties to you, you're dealing soley with the renter. They may have penalties, but only if the reservation is cancelled very close to the arrival date. Same day cancelling, and they lose their points...not saying you're doing that, but that's the strictest penalty they'd receive.

Penalties to you are up to the individual renter, but it doesn't sound like you're in store for any since you're pretty early in the process. I would let them know pretty quickly, though.

Renting can get you hooked, we did and now own.
