Hi there, hoping someone might have an answer for me in regards to renting points and making dining reservations. I just had a DVC member place a resort reservation for me at AKV for this November. We plan on booking the DxDP to go with it, but I was planning to wait until this Summer, since you need to pay for it up-front. Meanwhile, our 180 day mark would be May 5....will I only be able to make reservations one day at a time instead of 180+10? Since the reservation technically goes under his name with me as a guest, I'm not sure how this will work, particularly if I haven't even added the DP at that point. If anyone has experience with this, I'd love some info. Thanks so much!

The reservation should be made in your name. They should also have given you the room confirmation number. Using that confirmation number you can book up to 10 days worth of ADRs at 180 days out from check-in. If you book dining reservations for locations that are pre-paid, you will need to pay for them when you reserve since you are not going to add the dining plan until a later date.

If you have a reservation number you can do all of your reservations at the 180th day before your first day. There is a place online to get the exact day. you can do up to 10 days of reservations. You can do it online or call. You don't need to add the dining plan before hand. The only problem is if you book dinner shows or CRT you have to pay for them in advance if you haven't already paid for the dining plan.

Have you talked to the owner you are renting from about adding the Dx DDP?
He will have to add it for you and it will need to be paid for in full at that time.
There have been reports here, that because of this complexity some owners have been hesitant to add the dining plans.
Good Luck

I am renting points and only having the dining plan for 3 of the 5 days. The member does have to book each day seperatly though as classed as seperate bookings. If a renter pays for the DDP up front I dont see why a seller would be hesitant about booking it:confused3 A room only booking could be made and then when money arrives the renter can add the plan.I know its a pain phoning again but this way the seller has the money to book and pay DDP. Just my opinion. Perhaps Im too trusting

Thanks for the info, guys. Yes, I spoke with the member about adding the DP to our reservation, and he said that would be no problem. When he booked the trip, they informed him that we could use a three-way call to let me give my credit card info directly to DVC (they block his end of the line while the credit info is exchanged). Member services confirmed this process with me today on the phone. I did get a confirmation forwarded to me from my seller, but I just don't know where I enter the reservation number when placing my ADRs. I'm thinking it may still be worth just forcing myself to pay off the DP before my 180 day mark.....I know we plan on going to some of the credit card required restaraunts, and I don't want to have to worry about getting refunded those deposits after I add the DP. Thanks again for all your help :goodvibes
