Renting points - how do Magic Band purchases work?

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

If I rent points via one of the known websites for a villa, is there still a way to have my credit card connected to my Magic Band? Since I would be staying on points, I don't know if a credit card is still required at check-in for any reason. Just want to make sure I will be able to link my CC and pay with my Magic Band!

You can do online check in before you arrive or you can set up a charge to room account using your Magic Band after you check in.

As Sammie said, you can add a credit card during online check-in or you can add it when you get to the desk at check-in. We've add one at the desk before. We have kids and if you add a credit card online then it adds it to every magicband. If you have them do it at the desk, they can activate the card on only a subset of bands.

Yup, just add it at checkin. You can also link different bands to different credit cards. We had a 3 bedroom in December and had each family link their own card.

Once you get your points reservation number, just link it to your MDE account. Then everything works the same way it would with a "regular" on site reservation.

Check your agreement. Some specifically exclude renters from using a room charge account, to protect the owner from ending up with the bill. You should be aware that if you do it anyway, in violation of the agreement, your owner will receive notification that you did.

The account is emailed to the owner. He or she can see everything you charged.

Really? I have never had a copy of charges emailed to me.

Maybe it's a setting of some sort. I always have charges emailed to me, and the last time I had a guest use my points, they emailed me their account, too.
