1. Confirm that the reservation is valid? The person we are renting from seems very nice and helpful but...my husband is very nervous that member services won't even TALK to us. Is there a way to have ANYONE simply say, yes, you have a reservation in your name?

2. Check in? We will actually be in the WDW area for a week before coming to the resort. As we would like to use the benifits on check in day (parking, dining plan), how do we go about doing this?

Any advice would be appreciated!

You could ask the owner to send you either the confirmation letter or a print out of the reservation from dvcmember.com. However, the owner still reserves the right to cancel prior to check-in. This is the risk you take for the discount. However, I haven't heard of anyone bilking either a renter or an owner.

For check-in, you can check-in as early as 7:00 am to start realizing the benefits. However, your room will not likely be ready until after 4pm. We usually spend the time swimming at the pool.

Be sure to add the dining plan at least a few days prior to check-in. You will not be able to add it at check-in. However, payment is due at check-in.

Since you are not a member (or not the member who owns the points making the reservation), the member making the reservation will need to add the DDP and ME for you. This must be accomplished through MS and, just like with the confirmation, you cannot contact MS for any reason.

If your husband is unsure about the process, you may want to cancel the rental and just go through CRO and Disney directly.

Also, if you have any problems at all, Disney will not get involved in the problem. It will be between you and the member.

when you check in - you will get a resort parking pass. that is all you need to park anywhere on WDW property. now sometimes like at the polyn, you will only get a 3 hour pass.

but free parking at the theme parks.

dinning plan you must tell the member - he can add it. It must be added to your reservation before arrival.

also be sure to say which dinning plan you want.

if you get the dinning plan it will be on your room key, which is also your charge(if you gave front desk a credit card).

the DP must be paid for at arrival.

might ask the member for a contract. that should include his/her promise not to cancel or part with his/her membership until after your visit.

as well as your part of the bargin.

Thanks guys,

I get a pretty good feel about the person we are renting from, although I tend to think the best of everyone:flower3: My hubby is perhaps a little more reserved.

We did get a copy of the reservation and he has been very helpful with room requests and arranging the dining plan. I think we will just have to trust in this case and go for it!
