Renting Points ?/Grand Villa ?

We are currently planning a trip for my daughter's Sweet 16. We would love to have a Grand Villa but from what I understand, they don't come available on cash much and I don't have enough points to cover a week. Yikes. Does anybody know if I can book 3 nights with my own points and then rent points for 4 nights. Would that be too complicated. I know it would have to be two separate reservations and they would have to be joined if that's even possible when renting. Never rented points before so I"m a little hesitant about the whole thing honestly. But if I can't pay cash for Grand Villa nights, then that would be the only way. Any advice?

You could transfer in enough points to cover the 4 nights. If they match your home resort you can reserve at 11 months. If they match your UY you’ll see them online and can reserve online but if they don’t match then you’ll have to call MS to reserve.

In any case, a transfer would be easier for you than coordinating a rental.

If you're currently more than 11 months out (home resort, or 7 months out other resort), I'd try to get a broker (like David's) lined up to get you the first four days when the 11 (or 7) month window opens. Then, 4 days later, I'd use my own points to get the last 3 days.

I don't know how successful you'd be finding a single member wanting to transfer 300-400 points, since you can only do one transfer a year.

The timeshare store sometimes has points available for transfer -- typically at $15 a point. I used them last summer and it worked very well. Takes practically all of the risk out of the transaction since they don't provide your money to the owner until you confirm that the points have indeed been transferred to your account.

Depended on whether you can find someone which has 3-400 points available you might need to do both a transfer and a rental or just a rental with one of the companies.
