renting points for shorter stays

I'm a WDW veteran, but a non DVC owner. I've been reading a lot about renting points and we're ready to try it.

Here's my question: we want to rent a studio at Grand Californian, but we'd prefer a 3 or 4 night stay. Are we going to be hard-pressed to find a rental (likely through David's) for such a short stay?

We haven't chosen dates yet and may well wait until 2014. We're thinking May would be good, but are some times of year easier to get rentals that others? This may be a once in a lifetime trip so we want to avoid lots of closures. What if we're flexible on exact dates?

DL stays are typically shorter. VGC is small, you need to book early, preferably before the 7 month mark.

I would think it would be easier to find availability for a short stay. Your problem is more likely to occur if you cannot book quite far in advance; if you can't find an owner of points at GCV it's probable that by the time your booking window opens at 7 months before your trip there will be no inventory left. If you can find an owner of GCV points and book 11 months prior to arrival you should have no trouble with any length of stay.

It may also depend on the dates, room type and number of days. Davids does have a minimum number of points, as do some DVC members who rent their points.

Good luck!

Depends on the member. The work for the member is the same for a 3 night stay or a 10 night stay, obviously the 10 pays better.

I guess it depend on how many points the member has to rent.

Thanks, everyone. It's good to know that as long as we plan in advance we'll likely get what we want. Now to find out what David's minimum is...
