Renting points for Aulani... Risks with inquiring at multiple websites

hi,
I am a member, but I am booking rooms for extended family (2 studios and a 2 BR). I've been watching the availability and I'm starting to get nervous as the rooms trickle out. my MIL will be very upset if we can't get ocean view!

I've already put a request in at David's. They don't have points now, but I assume it will be easy to get them at the 7 month mark (do you think that's true?). I would like to go on and request them at one of the other sites, too, to increase the chances of us getting them. I believe, however, that once you make the request they will book it as soon as it comes up without notifying you, is that right? So, I am worried about making multiple requests and being stuck with multiple rooms. Or, is it ok to break them and just lose the deposit?

Thanks for any info and advice!

It's up to you if you want to lose any deposit money with regards to requesting from multiple places. It also depends on each companies policy regarding room requests and cancellation.

Have you looked for other owners who could transfer the points to your account? Then you could just control the reservation from your side without needing to worry about a broker.

I need so many points that I wouldn't want to transfer until I knew for sure I could book, otherwise I'll have $7k in points I won't be able to use. I can definitely do that at the 7 month mark, though. I guess I'll have to call and ask them about double dipping, because their policies are no refunds... I guess this is unlikely, but I fear that both agencies would book something on the same day, before I had a chance to cancel the other request.
Thanks for the reply!

I wouldn't even bother if I was looking at the agencies booking at 7 months but I'd see about what could be found during the home priority period if you're concerned about things disappearing. It sounds like the one OV might be the most critical. I'd think that since David's couldn't help you immediately then they shouldn't have an issue giving back the deposit. But at 7 months I'd just let it go with David's because yes, you'd likely have 2 reservations.

They are holding my deposit because I asked them to continue looking, otherwise they would refund. So, maybe I should do the same with the others but then cancel them the day before the 7 month window.
I am correct in thinking that there should be no problem at the 7 month window because then they can use any points to book, right?

That would be my assumption unless they are so low on points they don't have any at all to complete a booking. Have you also looked on the rental boards here to see if an Aulani owner is renting out points?

I have been looking, nothing for that many, though. Thanks for the info, I think I'll go on and see if another broker has some.
