What is the difference between renting and getting a transfer? I am a SSR DVC member but just found about renting points. I am going to be booking a vacation very soon and would rather buy points from an existing DVC member (rather than buying the 24 one-time-use points from Disney). By renting I can get more than 24 extra points and have a nicer and/or longer vacation.
So I actually have two questions:
1 - is the advantage of a transfer that I have control of the reservations?
2 - if I rent and don't get a transfer, then do I end up with two reservations? and how does Disney reservations feel about that? (not a big deal, a pita,...)
Thanks
Shay (MinMinn)
If you transfer points from one member to your account, those points become your points. They retain the resort and UY, but they are yours. So if you are looking at booking at 11 months you, you need points that match your home resort. Banked or borrowed points can't be transferred. But transferred points can be banked. They cannot be borrowed.
You can only get one transfer in or out each UY. And technically, there is no compensation paid for a transfer.
If another member makes the reservation with their points and sells the reservation to you, it belongs to them, your name is on it and they main control of the reservation. They will need to link it to your reservation.
