Renting Points for a BWV studio?

Yeah that makes sense. One more question...since I would be trying to find someone to rent beforehand, as someone who has rented points before, do you recommend me giving a deposit to the owner before they rent? Just trying to think of the best way to go about this if I find someone in like November/December. Thanks for all your help!
They will tell you what they want.

We have rented out our points, but as crisi said and has done, we only go through David's because it is less hassle for my lazy butt! As for your deposit question, if you are working with your own individual that you find, they will call the shots. Some will ask for 50% down when the ressie is made and 50% before your trip. Some will ask for all upfront ( I would not like that deal), some will ask for none until you are closer to your vacation. There is a range of transactions. If you go through David's or another broker, you will deal with their specific rules.

Just another thing to mention. You said you will be looking to rent two studios. Keep in mind one will be hard enough, but two standard views will be tough.

Yeah if we can't get two standard views I'm definitely willing to upgrade to a preferred view. I think it is more important for us to stay at the boardwalk than to be picky about the standard views. Are there not a ton of standard views at the boardwalk?

Both times I have rented points I just paid it all up front, but I see looking through the rental page that that is subjective to the owner. Thanks for the heads up guys!

Preferred view as a Boardwalk view will likely be just as hard. The preferred view of Garden/Pool view will be the easiest to get. I would hope for standard, but I'd be happy with garden/pool view. Just keep in mind that view will take more points than the standard view.

Yeah I don't really care about the view so a pool/garden view would be just fine. If we can't luck out on two standards, I'm hoping we can do a standard and then a preferred. Maybe we will be lucky enough for that? So if I find a wonderfully kind owner that is willing to book it right in the morning it will still be tough to land even one standard view? Are these harder than the value akv studios to get?

About 20% of the rooms are standard view and 20% are Boardwalk view. That leaves 60% of the resort preferred view. Because a lot of Boardwalk owners own SPECIFICALLY so they can secure a room for Food and Wine, the 40% of the rooms that are highly desireable tend to book up as soon as they are released - standard view being harder to get than Boardwalk View, but because Boardwalk View is the same price per point, it goes before preferred view. Because F&W is such a great adult vacation, studios book first. And because at BWV all two bedrooms are lockoffs (they can be broken down into a one bedroom and a studio) that leaves one bedrooms bookable last. You can often get a one bedroom long after you can get a studio - which means if you don't mind the pullout couch, and don't mind sharing the room, a one bedroom will be much easier to get in a standard view than two studios.

And yes, it will still be tough to get a single standard view studio. Food and Wine is a period of time when walking is common and those rooms may not even be available right in the morning, they may have disappeared seven days before.

Thank you so much for the info! Since food and wine will be over by December 15th, I shouldn't have to battle that at least right? Just the early December vacationers? Or does food and wine go that far into December and I had no idea? Lol
