Renting points and using DME

We are renting points at BWV in January (so excited!!) and haven't booked our flight just yet. I know theirs plenty of time to book and get the info to the DVC owners to have DME set up but I've got a question for "just in case."
Last time we flew to Orlando our flight we hadn't set up DME prior to our trip and honestly weren't really sure how we would be getting to our resort (long story..) so we wandered around and asked some questions. Eventually we were told that as long as we had reservations at a disney hotel we could use DME. We gave them our names and they pulled it up, printed us passes, and off we went. Obviously we had already collected our own luggage.
Now if I were to do the same, renting points, would we be able to? Our names are ON the reservation but I know the owner is in control of it. Anyone try winging it this way?

Yes, you can still go to the DME check-in desk at MCO and they will get you on a bus. You should also have your room reservation number handy just in case.

You can either collect your luggage from baggage claim, or give DME your claim check numbers.

You will also be able to link the reservation to your MyDisneyExperience (MDE) profile. Once that's done, you can customize MagicBands and if you also have park admission linked to MDE, you can make advance FP+ selections beginning at 60 days from check-in.

Suggest that you have the owner add your DME, you can always call (866) 599-0951 yourself to modify later if needed.
