renting points and payments

Hi I am new at renting some of my points out and was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to watch out for. And is Paypal the best way to go? I'm a little nervouse on making reservations over 190points. Should I wait for the money or gamble and make the reservations, than get the money? Would a money order be better or Paypal? Oh so ! We can't use these points and hate to see them go to waste to renting them is our best option. Should I also be worried about the quality of people who will not trash my villa??? How do I check on that?

All good questions and concerns. Renting isn't for everyone and there are no guarantees for either party. Most answers to your questions depends on who you find as a renter. Some don't want to use PayPal, others want to use a credit card or mail a check.

Being a landlord also carries with it the responsibility that you will do your job correctly. A recent post from a renter who can't get in contact with the member to add the DDP is just one example.

paypal is a convenince option, it offers no protection. As to trashing the unit, that is a risk you have to be willing to accept because as the member you are responsible for your guest.

We rent points all the time from other DVC owners. We are owners but do not own enough points. We are very nice and have not trashed a villa yet! Of course we have no children so that makes it a good deal easier. You might hope for another DVC member, or have you considered transferring them?
