We are renting points and staying at AKV-Jambo. I have a few questions.

1. Do we check in at a different area or same place as you checkin for regular reservation?

2. Do you get the tiny little bottle of shampoo and little bars of soap provided? I know there is no cleaning, so, but wasn't sure if they provided a bottle at the start and the rest is up to you? We usually take our own stuff, even when booked regularly, but I was thinking of carry on only this trip, which might make that difficult.

3. We have always had good luck with getting in our room early for regular reservations. Does that ever happen with DVC or are they strict about check in time? I know it is all based on the room being available, but also know some resorts never allow early check ins.

Thanks for the help. We are very excited about our trip. :)

Here's my experience:

1. Disney treated us like owners. They didn't seem to know that we were "guests."
2. Yep, there were soaps and such in the room. However, they are not replaced regularly like in a hotel room. you'll wait a few days for a refill.
3. We checked in later so I don't really know the answer to your question. But you can have your luggage stowed and get your bands for the parks while you wait for your room if it is not ready. they will text you when your room is ready.

There is only one check-in desk at Jambo House, and that's for all guests with reservations at Jambo.
2. Do you get the tiny little bottle of shampoo and little bars of soap provided?
Yes. If your stay is long enough, the toiletries will be replaced every 4 days (your check-in day is day 1).

You can check-in as soon as the resort system rolls to the next day which occurs in the wee hours of the morning. Room ready is after 4 pm, but you will be given access to the room as soon as it's ready.

Your chance of getting into your room early is very small. As a timeshare DVC is designed to run at near 100% capacity. It does happen, but I would not expect it so you are not disappointed.

As I said previously, I know it is never guaranteed, and it is not a big deal if it isn't. We will just be VERY late to getting into our room if it isn't ready early, because we are heading to the Halloween party on our first night. :goodvibes Good thing we have a late start planned for our second day. ;)

Check in first then head out to the party. They can have your luggage waiting for you in your room when you get back. They'll even give you the keycards in check-in so you don't have to stop by the desk on your way back.

KTTW cards are no longer issued.

If the OP has a US mailing address and has customized their MagicBands, they will be mailed to them.

If the OP does not have a US mailing address or didn't customize the MagicBands, they will be waiting for them at the resort.

I wondered about that. Since I'll be going in October but I'll just be staying at my resort and going to MNSSHP. I didn't think they'd mail me bands for that stay. Just keycards and the MNSSHP tickets. So your saying that for simple stays without tickets, they will still mail the bands.

Yes. The MB is your room card. And your ticket. And a credit card on your wrist, if you set it up for charging. To be precise, the band links to MDE and tells the system who you are. The front desk has told the system that you're in a specific room. So when you identify to the system by tapping your band at that room door, it opens. (At least when it works correctly...)

They won't deliver luggage to the room when the guests aren't there to receive it. The rest I agree with.

It depends. If your luggage arrives via Magical Express from the airport, they will deliver it if no one is in the room. If your luggage is just checked with the bellman, then no

True, I was going to say that but for some reason thought the OP mentioned driving themselves so didn't bother. Now I see it doesn't say that anywhere.

Yeah that the way it worked when I bought a package deal from Disney last year, but this year I'm simply making a room reservation. Are they now mailing out Magic bands for room only reservations now too? And later when I buy my MNSSHP tickets will I get a second set of magic bands for that? Or will they know to link the room reservation with the MNSSHP tickets? In sept when I stopped by for a short trip they didn't give me bands at all. I got a plastic card.

Yes, they'll still send a MB for room only. For MNSSHP, depending on your choice, you can either print out a paper ticket or have them mail you the hard ticket. Either way it should automatically be linked to your MB as long as you have a corresponding resort reservation during that time. Worst case, if it didn't link & you wanted it to, you could add it yourself on MDE.

It is not impossible that you could get into your room early. It is just a rare occurrence. We got into our last room (Value Studio at AKV) right when we checked in, around 2:00 PM. We didn't expect this, so it was a happy surprise. I would suggest planning for the room being available after 4:00 PM and if you do happen to get early availability of the room, look at it as a little extra pixie dust on your vacation.

Our last trip in September we got in our room at noon. Every other trip has been usually 3 or 4.

Thank you everyone. We will have magic bands and are using Magical Express. I know we will have to call for our carry on luggage when we get to the room. I am going to plan to not have a room before leaving for the party. Might just change the night of the Halloween party to make things more convenient, but it would definitely be the least crowded of the other parties, so I have to decide which is more important to us. Getting in our room before 2AM or the less crowded party. :goodvibes Guess I will just be thankful that these are the difficult decisions in my life right now.
