I didn't know where to post this but our family would love to rent golf carts to drive around the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort for the day. We are not staying there but would love to spend some time driving around.

Can anyone tell me what your experiences were when you did this? How long did you rent it for? Where did you go? Is there much to see?

We are always trying to find different things to do. Thanks for your help.

I've never rented a golf cart at Fort Wilderness but I did find this number to contact about cart reservations: Cart Reservations at 407-824-2742. There are lot of activities at the Fort -- horseback riding, carriage rides, petting farm, pony rides, fishing, visit the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. Chip & Dale's Campfire Sing-a-Long is open to anyone. The pool is restricted to guests staying at Fort Wilderness, but as with any other resort the rest of the recreational activities should be open to all guests. I'm not sure there's much to see just driving through the campsites, though I've read campers enjoy decorating at Halloween and Christmas.

You might try asking about cart rental and activities on the Camping at Disney World forum: http://www.disboards.com/forums/camping-at-disney-world.24/

The info above is correct. Reserve now, they are often sold out. You can pick it up after 1pm and return anytime before 11a the next day. You don't pay until you pick it up, but they take a CC to reserve it.

We camp at the Fort so the golf cart is a great time saver for us.

Are you traveling near a holiday -- Halloween or Christmas? Most sites are decked out. Even during non-holidays some campers decorate. We're seen some awesome themed golf carts, too.

I suggest eating dinner at Trails End. It's the cheapest buffet on property, and IMO has the best food! There are a few playgrounds around the resort and you can rent fishing poles and buy worms to fish -- we did that when we stayed at POR and it was so much fun!

We are going during the Halloween decorations. We do want to try Trails End dinner this trip. Our DD loves their breakfast. Our DS wants to fish so we want to do that too. When you were staying at the POR - when did you return the golf cart - at night or the next day? Thanks so much for the help.
