I always rent from Budget using "Pay Later", in part so I can easily pivot to another brand if needed, but also to take advantage of price drops.

In the past 10 days, the cost of my rental has dropped almost $100 - $50 over the weekend, and another $45 drop today. Very easy to cancel the old reservation and make the new one.

So...if you have a 'pay later' for Budget, make sure you keep checking your rates.

Thanks this good advice. Still very high rates for pay later for December though. Any other good rates for on site (do not want to take shuttle off site)?

Not aware of any, but mostly because I don't check other sites or vendors. I book direct with Budget (I'm a Fast Break member). I love just walking out to the parking garage, grabbing my paperwork and heading out. The last three trips down, I've been upgraded automatically.

I check pricing every few days once I hit the 5-weeks-to-go mark as that's when I see pricing move the most. Sometimes I'll check more than once a day.

I never bite on the 'pay now' price as IMO it doesn't offer enough of a break if I can re-price at a later date. I also never use third-party sites like Priceline as adding that 'extra' layer of administration can cause a lot of headaches if just one thing goes sideways.
