Renting from a company that cannot leave at Guest Services?

I gave my friend the information from these boards, and she has decided to go with a company that is not able to leave the ECV at guest services. She tells me they need to know her room number. We will not know our room number until we check in.

Has anyone rented from one of the companies that cannot leave at GS? How did it work out for you, getting the ECV as well as giving it back. My friend has an early morning Magic Express pick up, so I wonder how getting it back to the company will work.

Any stories here about renting from other than a "preferred " ECV company?

The "non-featured" vendors will arrange a time to meet directly with the guest. I'm not sure why they would be requesting a room number as nobody has that in advance, and most often the vendor will meet the guest in the lobby or other public area. I'm sure she can provide the room number after check-in if they still require it.

As for the return... how early is early? Depending on the vendor, they may need to have her return it the night prior. Has she shared your flight times to pre-plan anticipated pick-up and return times? I believe some vendors may be more flexible than others with regards to such times. If she absolutely needs the ECV until your ME pick-up, that may impact her vendor selection. She needs to discuss this with the vendor.

I rented from Walker Mobility last October, They are a non preferred vendor. They did not request my room number.
We met outside of the Beach Club at a pre arranged time both for pickup and delivery. All went very well and I am going to do so again this year.

Same here, but mine rental was in Dec 0f 2014. Still at Beach Club and they called me on my cell to let me know they were there for drop off and pick up.

It didn't take more than 5 minutes for each.

I will be renting from them again this November.

This was my experience with Walker as well. They met me just outside the main door for both dropping off and to pick up at the end of our stay. No room number was needed, just a phone number I could be reached at in FL (I gave my cell #).

Personally, I would not be comfortable giving anyone my room number.

No way would they be getting a room number from me. They should be meeting you at the lobby or out front. Not even pizza delivery is allowed to take things right to the room, so I doubt this company would be allowed to.
 
Thank you for the warnings. I never gave security a thought, I just knew that we would not know the room number until the day of check in. I will mention this concern to my friend. Two of my friends are renting from outside companies, but one is from a vendor who can leave the ECV at Bell Services.

I am glad that so many had good experiences with Walker.
