I apologize if this is in the wrong area, but it isn't a question about trying to rent points from another member, so I didn't know if would go on the Rent/Trade boards.
I am wanting to book a room next year and will need some extra points to complete my reservation. I am needing about 22 points and I know that I can rent them directly through Disney which is my plan. My question is, when do I pay for the rental of those extra points? Do I pay for them when I make the reservation or when we get there? I would assume when I go to reserve the room, but I just want to make sure that I am planning for everything.
Thanks for your help.

You pay at the time the reservation is made.

Note that the "one time use points" can only be purchased / used 7 months from arrival. That is not an option for booking a Home resort at 8-11 months.

Also the points are non-refundable, cannot be banked, borrowed, transferred, etc.

The one-time-use points are $15 each for up to 24. As Tim noted, they can only be used within 7 months and can not be banked.

Good timing. I came on to ask about one-time use points too.
I searched the Member website, but couldn't find info on them.
It used to be on the Member website, so I wondered if they removed it, quit doing it, or I just couldn't find it. Is it still there somewhere? Can someone direct me to it please and thank you?
Can you "buy" them online, or do you have to call member services? I only ever see the borrow option, but never looked before today either.
Thanks all.

Thank You! I am booking at 7 months out and we are using some banked points as well so we are going no matter what! I don't want to lose any points. I appreciate your help. :wave2:

One-Time-Use Vacation Points

See the details on how you can obtain a minimal number of additional vacation points to use towards your stay of choice.

As a Disney Vacation Club Member, occasionally you may find yourself in need of just few extra vacation points in order to book that perfect dream vacation. Previously, this required borrowing vacation points from a future use year, but very recently a new alternative was introduced. They're called "one-time-use" vacation points and are available for a fee of $15 ($13.33 plus $1.67 tax) per vacation point. Availability of one-time-use vacation points may be limited or suspended from time to time, and the fee is subject to change.

Details:
•One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.

•You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.

•A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.

•The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.

•One-time-use vacation points expire according to the use year of the reservation booked and are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be banked or borrowed.

•One-time-use vacation points are not available for waitlist reservations.

•One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.

•One-time-use vacation points are only available for Members whose contract is closed and in good standing.

•One-time-use vacation points are available only for Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Collection*, Adventurer Collection* and World Passport Collection reservations.

* Available when you purchase directly from Disney.

•One-time-use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club resort reservations can only be used up to 7 months prior to arrival.

•One-time-use vacation points for Disney Collection, Adventurer Collection and World Passport reservations can be used according to the booking guidelines for each individual collection.

Is there any way to purchase one time use points when making an on line reservation or, do I need to call member services to book my reservation 7 months out. I really prefer to make my reservations on line and was hoping to add on a few points concurrently without making the call.

You need to call.
However if you are worried about the availability of the room at the 7 months window (since MS open one hour later), you might book the first nights online and call MS to add the last night(s) using one time points. Since that night will be far into the 7 months booking window they will likely be available.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I was worried about losing out on my reservation by needing to call in order to buy one time use points. Thanks for the great advice!

Does anyone have any idea if you can use the Disney Visa Rewards to pay for these points?

I have quite a few points in our account and was not sure if you can apply them towards DVC costs.

Since DVC allows you to use them to pay annual dues, my guess is that they would allow their use for the one time use points, too. Of course, the reward points do have to be transferred to a rewards card first (but I'm sure you already know that). :)

Why not call MS and ask - they're open from 9am - 5:30 pm today (Saturday)
