Renting DVC?

Why do we have to pay as DVC Members to advertise our rentals? Its free on FB? I don’t understand who get the money and why? It would be nice to rent here .

I would guess that payment is going to the owners of the DISboards. As to why, possibly to try and minimize fraud.

I don't mind paying a bit to advertise here though I only rent occasionally when I have extra points. I feel safer here as an owner and I think it is easier for me to vet a renter and the renter to vet me. It is still cheaper than renting through a broker and the owner has more control over the situation.

My *contribution* helps keep the community active (let's face it nothing is free!) My renters are awesome and feel safe enough to contact me again when they need a reservation. It is mutually beneficial IMO.

The Rent/Transfer board is for those members of the DiS community and for those who participate on a regular basis, they do not incur a fee.

I read a lot more than I post. I still feel like part of the community, but I don't think I qualify for posting rentals without paying.

I'm happy to pay for it to be worthwhile to host the site, but it's not necessairly free to the 'community',

As I said, those who are active participants of the DIS community are allowed to post for free.

As a private owned site, the owners have made this available with guidelines.
