Hello everyone,
We are wanting to rent DvC for a 3 night stay next October. I have heard of 'David's' and 'DVC rental store'....is there any other company's I could look into?
Thanks

Those are the big names. David's sponsors this site. I have used both. David's WILL find what you need. The other is very user friendly, responsive and doesn't require full payment upfront- BUT- I have had them come back unable to fill a high point request at VGF whereas, David's made it happen. You will be secure with both and have an easy time of it. I personally, will only use the two so that there is a real investment in their reputation if anything should go wrong. 4 times- no problems!

While both are very reputable companies please understand that it is more convenience that 100% guarantee of no problems. The member owns your reservation until you check in. I just do not like anyone to think it is the same as booking with Disney. Both are only as good as the members they deal with. I know both hold some part of your payment to the member until you check in but would ask and make sure what policy if any problem arises.

As mentioned, those are the big ones. Also keep in mind there are two things you need from a company - to get and hold your reservation and to get the points from someone to cover your reservation. If you're booking more than 7 months out then they need to get an Aulani member's points (and if less then they can use any DVC points). I recently booked for August and it took a few weeks before they had the points available to complete the reservation. In that time, availability was constantly changing and I needed to shift my dates and room type a few times. I mention that since these are the big two and I imagine that means they're getting new points to use fairly regularly whereas a smaller player might not.

We rent DVC points all the time and have done so for Aulani. I used the Rent/Trade forum on the DisBoards to locate an Aulani owner around the 10 month mark. I paid a deposit to her via PayPal, she made the reservation and sent me the details, and I paid the balance 30 days before my trip. That was her policy. She offered up references as well. The benefit to finding an owner yourself, rather than going through a broker, is that you will pay less per point.

To date, I've not had any negative experiences renting points. As long as you find a reputable owner and do your due diligence, its well worth the risk for the financial savings. When we went to Aulani, booking direct through Disney would have cost us almost $3000 in a hotel room. We paid $1400 for a studio renting points.

We had a super-smooth experience with David's for an Oct 6-Oct 11 trip to Aulani in 2015. We booked almost 11 months out, and requested a Hotel Room (we're the hotel room type of people, don't want any of the kitchenettes, etc.). We got it within 24 hours. They were fabulous and VERY responsive to my questions about renting, the room, even requesting 2 queen beds vs. 1 queen 1 sofa bed. Couldn't have been happier. We saved about $400 over booking directly with Disney. If we had waited until almost last minute, the price came down significantly through Disney with lots of "room credit" offers.

Also a note about October - CHECK WHEN THE OAHU SCHOOLS ARE OUT!!! We made the mistake of overlapping during the Oahu fall break YOWZA. Everything everywhere was so crowded. We won't go back during that time - EVER.
