We are thinking of renting DVC through David's Vacation Club. Has anyone used this service? If so, please tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks.

Rented through David's loved the service, very professional, everything went without a glitch. Now that we're owners we have rented our point through him with the same experience.

I agree!! I have rented through David in the past - and just this past weekend rented a BLT studio for October. Excellent service and communication - professional and efficient. It was fun getting everything in place for my trip. They made my Magical Express reservation also. Great staff!!

I have never rented DVC points before. I know someone who did use David's and had no problems at all; they are very reputable. I guess the real concern I have is that if I'm not mistaken, your deposit is not refundable if the need arises that you need to cancel. When booking with WDW the cancellation policies are much more liberal. I would make sure you understand the cancellation policies before putting down a deposit.

***EDIT***

Here is a paste from their website on cancellations.

Cancellations

Due to the complexity of the point system and the fact that Members may have to bank or borrow points in order to secure your reservation, cancellations are not permitted. The lead guest name must also remain the same due to a rental agreement between the guest and the member, however, you are permitted to add or delete the additional guests listed in the room with you.

You may want explore the possibilities of adding Travel Insurance to protect yourself against unexpected situations. I do not provide this insurance, but you can obtain obtain a very reasonable quote here: Travel Insurance Quote

I'm a DVC owner who has rented points out through Davids company. I had absolutely no issues whatsoever. It all went like clockwork.
The whole not being able to cancel is due to the points owner being stuck with unusable points..which really wouldn't be fair. So, you do have to be ready to commit, 100%. But other than that, no problems whatsoever.
