First trip to Aulani and rented points. Is it possible to put in a request for a high floor or do they not take requests if it's a DVC on rental points.?

I’ve rented points 5 different times now. I’ve put in room requests via touringplans each time. 5 out of 5 times I’ve gotten either the exact room requested, or pretty darn close - (OKW (exact room), BWVx3 (1 exact room, 2 where the assigned room was a few rooms downs from what I requested and met my general requests), BRV (requested a specific room on highest floor - was assigned that same room but on floor 1, which we ended up loving). Actually - the one time I didn’t get anywhere close to my room request was a non-DVC 1 night stay at POR.

I didn’t use any of the owners to have a request made - just the touringplans room request tool.
Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻‍♀️

The DVC member has to put the request in on your behalf via Member Services.
Not at Aulani. You can call the "normal" resort line, and any of their agents can see your reservation using your confirmation number and add whatever notes you need.

@PRaffen, what room category did you book? If you booked Standard or Poolside Garden view, you're not going to get a high floor no matter what you request.

Thanks for the information that I can call Aulani and put in the request myself. We booked ocean view so here's hoping!

Actually the normal resort line can only view DVC reservations, not access it to add notes. However, you could call the normal resort line (if you're referring to 866-443-4763) and they can transfer you to the front desk to add notes. I agree with the other poster to use touringplans.com.

You can request a high floor that can technically be accommodated for standard view or poolside garden view. Poolside garden view rooms are floors 1-5 so technically could get 5th floor and standard view rooms could be as high as the 7th floor but neither room type would be above those.

This is pretty surprising. You're saying that you can rent a room from a DVC owner, then go to a 3rd party website to make the room request? Can you provide the link, please?

It’s the room finder feature on touringplans.com (paid yearly subscription). I let my subscription lapse last month because I’m not traveling to WDW this year, but you can see each resort by room type. Most rooms have pics of what your ‘view’ would be, and many have comments from people who’ve actually stayed in that room. You then pick your room, and they send out their request on your behalf. You don’t always get it, but sometimes you do (or close to your request). I’ve also seen people not get anything close to what they requested. It’s all a luck of the draw. There’s a whole thread on the TP forums tracking room requests and actual room assignments.

I know people have said that only the DVC member can actually request a DVC room, but on the touringplans forums there were people saying they had luck using the touring plans room request when renting points, so I’ve always used that feature (vs asking the person I rented from - did not want to be a bother). I also have only traveled in September during their ‘slow’ season - not sure if that makes a difference. Either way, it’s worth a shot. Worst thing that could happen is you don’t get your request.
