Hi everyone,

This may have been asnwered already and if so, I do apologize.
My wife and I are new to the whole DVC points renting, and we would love to rent points next September. For now, we are getting an idea what is involved so we are prepared when we try to rent the points.

We have two questions concerning the dining plans:

1. Is free dining offers valid to DVC members, including those that rent points to other guests?

2. Can you request a DVC memmber add a DDP to your stay on your behalf, and if so, is it the same rate as a regular DDP or is there any discounts given?

Thanks.

Rick

1. No, DVC members staying on points or someone renting points cannot get FD. FD requires the purchase of a package booked directly through Disney, with a minimum of a 2 day base ticket for each person in the room.

2. Yes, you can pay for the DDP and have the member add it to your reservation without having to purchase park tickets; however, the DDP will be at full price as there are no discounts on the DDP.

HTH :).

Good info, but what if you receive a PIN for free dining or other such discount, can that be applied to a DVC res using points?

No, anyone staying on DVC points cannot take advantage of FD as FD requires you to pay rack rate for the room and purchase a minimum 2 day base ticket for everyone in the room. DVC members staying on points and people who rent points can pay for the DDP without having to buy tickets, but they cannot get FD.

No, free dining requires a package reservation through CRO/DRC paying full rack rate for the room plus tickets. There is no way to get FD on a DVC points reservation.

edited to add: Looks like mickeynut posted first.

Not at all. It is only available with a certain type of reservation (rack rate package with at least 2 day tickets, at least 3 nights) booked through Walt Disney Travel Company.

No. PIN codes are not applicable to DVC reservations. DVC is an entirely separate system from the regular resort reservation system.

It is possible to book DVC rooms through WDTC just like you would book a hotel room - these are rooms that Disney has taken back into their resort inventory to rent out. You can possibly apply a PIN or free dining to that. But it is not the same thing as a points reservation. And if you really want a DVC room, you may be able to get a substantial discount on the room by renting points. Rack rate for these rooms runs to several hundred dollars per night.

You can ask the DVC member to add DDP to your stay. You must get the same plan for everyone on your reservation for each night of your stay. It must be paid for when it is added to the reservation, so work the payment logistics out with the member, since only the member can contact Member Services.

You will pay the regular rate per person for the dining plan you chose. No discounts. However, you would not be subject to peak pricing on either DDP or DXDDP on a DVC points reservation.
