Renting DVC points/adding DDP?

Hello all! While I've been to Disney more times than I count, I've always booked through them.....but I am thinking of renting DVC points this time through David's site. I know that you can still do the dining plan when renting DVC points, but I am not sure if it can be added on at a later date? For example, if I booked our room in Feb, could I then add on the DDP in October or November (our trip is not till end Dec). And if we add it on, do we have to pay for it all at once like you do the points?

It can be added on later, but it must be done at least 72 hours before your arrival. It must be added by the owner, and payment in full is due at the time it's added.

It's 48 hours prior to your arrival on a DVC reservation. And yes, the owner will have to add and pay for it, so you will need to get in touch with the owner and determine how you'd like to pay them. Some use gift cards, then the owner can read off the gift card number to pay.

We are renting points and considering have the member add on the dining plan on our behalf, meaning we'd have to give him cc info or a gift card for him to pay in full when he makes the reservation. Once its been paid, can it be canceled? I'm actually hoping it can't be for peace of mind that if I see its been added to the reservation, it can't disappear later on.

Yes, the dining plan can be cancelled by the owner up to 48 hours before the renter checks in. The original form of payment is credited when the plan is cancelled.

and it probably goes without saying, but since a DVC pts stay is basically a discounted room stay, free dining is never an option.

For my renters, they pay with PayPal. Yes the DDP can be canceled but so can the room reservation. If you don't trust your owner, find a different one or if it causes you concern, maybe you shouldn't rent. Life is tough enough as it is.
