My friends and I are taking our first cruise this fall. We will be staying at OKW the night before the cruise. We want to rent a car to drive down to the cruise and back. Has anyone done this? Do we just leave the car at Port Canaveral? How does this work? We're thinking we will rent from the airport and drop off back at the airport when we return. Any thoughts?

We are renting a car to get to the port from WDW also. We are going to return the car to the rental company the morning of the cruise. Dh will have dropped dd and I off at the ship, he returns the car and gets a cab or shuttle ride back to the ship. Then we will reverse it when we disembark. We will take a cab to the rental office and then head off from there.
You can park your car while you are on the ship. You can either use one of those resorts that allow you to leave your car there or use the parking lot for the cruise ship. I figured it both ways (our resort doesn't offer free parking)...keeping the car and parking it someplace or just returning the car. It was cheaper for us to return the car and then rerent one when we got off the ship.

IMHO..... The best thing to do is drive. For us it gives us time to enjoy and take our time to see the sites.

Yes do park at the terminal. I am thinking that the cost is $11 a day something like that.
