Renting Car at TPA return at Orlando Q's

We wish to rent a car in Tampa at airport and return it to Ariport in Orlando. Is there usually much of a surcharge for this? Any particular rental company to try. Want a minivan and hope to find some good coupon codes, but don't know if they will work for this scenario.

We're renting a car at the Car Care Center, on-site at WDW, and driving to Tampa. We have it from Thursday-Sunday. We'll be dropping it off at Tampa Intnl. Airport just before our flight. I don't believe we have any surcharges or such.

There isn't a surcharge but you need to let them know when you make the reservation that your return city is different than your pick up city.

We do this rather often. We fly into TPA to visit friends and then end our vacation at WDW, flying out of MCO. It's easy to do. As a previous poster noted, make sure you set your reservation up correctly (not returning to the same place). Also, if you think of it, ask for an Orlando map when you get your car at TPA. They don't always have one (at least at National), but they are very handy when you head for your new location. There is no "surcharge" for this. Sometimes it's even a cheaper rental to drop off somewhere other than your pickup point. (Of course, the reverse could be true, though I've not seen that.)

We did it last year with Thrifty that I booked thru SouthWest Airlines. It worked out just fine and there was no surcharge.

One thing I did notice since we were in Florida during the Christmas/NYE season was the availability of cars that could be rented in one location and returned to another became less and less as the dates approached. I kept checking the rates and noticed this.
