We will need to rent bikes while down in HH over Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any idea who has the best price and or service? Getting ready for the trip & finding I have questions every time I turn around.

Although renting bikes from the resort is more convienent it is also more expensive than renting from off resort shops. Some of the rental shops will drop the bikes off and pick them up when you are done but I believe there may be a minimum rental time.

When you go into the lodge to your immediate left is usually an Island magazine racks with discount and coupons for all kinds of activities on the Island including specials for bike rental.

There is a service which will make arrangements with you online. We made arrangements and the bikes were waiting there for us when we arrived, with appropriate locks and the key left at a mutually agreed upon location. They were picked up after we left. No hassle, no mess.

We were down at Hilton Head at the beginning of October and rented from member services. They had a deal - I think it was $30 for the first two bikes and $10 for every one after that - and it was good for the whole time you are there. So a family of 4 would pay $80 and could have the bikes for as long as they wanted. I thought it was a great deal - we had the bikes for 4 days - at $20/day that was only $5 per person/day!

We had a great time riding on the beach and around the plantation!!!

We rented from Disney in July. Fortunately, Fish Creek Rental was able to fix our bikes both time we had problems. We just happened to be right by them when we had problems on two different occassions. They also let us borrow one of their bikes until Disney could bring us a replacement so we were not waiting. I do have to say that Disney covered our bike rental for the week because of our problems.

The one nice thing about Disney is that they have the KiddieCaboose tag along if you'd be needing something like that. The rental at Fish Creek had a very different tag along which didn't have any type of enclosure.

Fish Creek did tell us they would deliver and the bikes would be waiting for us upon check in. However, the Disney bikes were more comfortable than the Fish Creek bikes.

When we go next year, I'm not sure what we will do. We'll still need the tag along so we'll probably rent from Disney but we'll DEFINATELY have our cell phone with us. We could have had a long walk back to the resort had we not broke down where we did.

Have fun. I can't wait until we go next summer.
