Renting, Banking, Borrowing?

if we bank this years points to use next year in october our use year is september how would we go about renting the rest of the points we would need?? Do we rent and then make the reservation ? How does renting work ? I am new at this so please help..

You could try to find someone to transfer the points to your account and then they become yours to use for your reservation. They need to be a UY that will allow the 2012 Oct reservation. They could be 2011 points that can then be banked into the 2012 UY or 2012 points that can be used in Oct. You could also figure out how many nights you can reserve with your points and then find someone to make a reservation for the remaining ones with their points and you can have them linked together so you don't have to change rooms. If you only need a few points you can rent them from Disney for $15 a point to make up what you need. I can't remember if it is a maximum or 15 or 20.

you can't really rent "points." we use that phrase but it's inaccurate.

you can have points "transferred" to your account or else you can "rent" a reservation.

if you have pts transferred from another member, the pts become yours (but maintain their prior UY and home resort priorities) and you can make a reservation with them.

if you have pts transferred from disney directly, you can only get up to 24 pts for $15 per pt.

if you rent a reservation, you can rent however many individual nights that you need, but you are subject to normal renter limitations: you can't call MS to discuss or change that reservation. you would need to call the other owner to add DDP, DME or make changes.

keep in mind that you can also borrow pts from your next use year.

Since you did not mention borrowing points, note that when you call in Nov 2011, 11 months out, to make that Oct 2012 reservation, you can bank your Sep 2011 points and use those, use the Sep 2012 points, and borrow the Sep 2013 points. Thus, you might want to consider borrowing 2013 points before doing a rental.

You can rent from Disney up to 24 points but you can only do that when reserving 7 months or less out.

As noted, your other options are to get points transfered to your account or have someone else make a reservation using their points for some of the days you will be there and then have the reservation you make using your own points linked with that one.

When are you actually trying to travel? Can you not borrow from your 2013 points, thereby using 2011, 2012, & 2013 together?
