We are in ROFR on some points for BCV. We rented points to stay at BLT in Jan 2012. Assuming the BCV contract goes through am I correct in saying that I will get a DVC member card and therefore be able to go to the BLT Top of the World lounge?

Are there other benefits I would have as a result of the DVC membership when we travel on rented points?

TIA!

You can only go to the TOW lounge if you are staying at BLT AND are a member, so yes, if your member card comes you will be fine.

You can use your membership card to receive discounts while shopping and dining at select stores and restaurants. You'll receive a list of where you can use the card when you check in.

Apologies if I am incorrect but when I read the 1st post, I thought the answer would be yes.

Since you are renting from an owner, I would expect your Room key to say DVC Member on it.

When we stayed at BLT last June (owners and heading there again in 19 days) we showed our room key which had DVC Member in the lower right and we were granted access.

Since you are renting from an owner, I would expect your room key to be the same.

Technically, you don't own that reservation and you compensated the member for the reservation. You can't make changes or add to the reservation. So you may be considered a non-member for that reservation. You would not be able to pool hop since you are not on your own points. But you could use DVC discounts that are not tied to a stay - like shopping and dining discounts.
