Don't know if I am aloud to ask this or not, but if you are renting an rv from an outside company which one do you use and why. Feel free to pm me with your answer.

Sure you are aloud to ask, and many of us have asked the same question. There are several companies that rent RVs at the fort, you can do a Google search for Fort Wilderness RV rentals. Everyone is looking for something different, some only want a small popup, others want a 5th wheel or large camper, and some are price driven. When I started looking at rental companies some had nice web sites with lots of information others were plain jane with very little info, have to do your legwork. We settled with http://www.greenbergrvflorida.com and could have not been happier, they have a large inventory of newer trailers. Other rental places didn't even list a model year for the camper and they looked worn out, one had ten year old trailers that I had no interest in sleeping in. Matt the owner of Greenburg was great to work with from the first call till the day we departed, I could have not asked for more, and our next trip is scheduled with Greenburg. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, someone will chime in with an answer.

Sundancer, interestingly enough I had this same question so was cruising the boards this morning and saw this thread. Is it true with Greenberg that you aren't allowed to use the stove's (cooktops) in their campers? I looked at their website this morning after seeing your post and saw that mentioned on their website. I guess that's not a huge deal because you'd probably mostly cook outside but was just curious. Thanks for the replies!

You can use the cooktop, what Greenburg is concerned about is using the oven. We did use the oven once, since I had never operated an RV oven I had to be careful lighting the pilot and then making sure the oven fired up. They are worried about someone dumping propane into the trailer and then something sparks and causes a fire and or explosion. If you have used this type of oven its simple and you know what to look for, if not just don't use it. Since we were on vacation we really didn't have much use for it since we ate out so much or made something quick on the stovetop or BBQ.

Oh ok, thank you sir! I didn't see an actual oven in the pictures I was looking at so I assumed they meant the cooktop. Thanks for the reply!

Hope someone can answer this. Do the Greenburg campers come with a crockpot? If we bring our own are we aloud to use them in the camper. If it rains I don't want it outside.

These look like Orlando local-only (maybe FW-only?) rental companies. Has anyone used any of the national rv rental companies? I would love to plan a trip with my kids but have seen some bad reviews for the popular companies. I wouldnt mind starting at FW, if I could get a reservation there, but would then like to shoot out into the panhandle or down to the Keys with the RV. Will these companies allow that? Thank you!

I don't remember seeing a crockpot in a Greenburg RV, but I don't see why you could not bring your own and use it inside. The camper is pretty well equipped, lots of pots and pans, glasses, coffee cups, plates, bowels, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, stove, and frig. Check out the website they have a FAQ section that answers most questions.

When we looked for an RV rental at the fort most of the large national companies like Camping World didn't rent trailers, they seemed to rent motorhomes. We used Greenburg which is a local company, they will setup for you at the fort or you can rent from them and go wherever you would like. Check out their web site as they have suggestions for camping at other locations in Florida besides the fort.

In the past I have seen several of the Class C rental rv's on each trip like this one:

They fill a niche if you want to be on-the-go. I think the rental trailer companies fill the niche for people who want to use a rental only for a WDW vacation. Just make your grocery stop before you get to your destination. :rolleyes2
